Looking for gears - anybody have these?

Well PIC has done it agian. They slipped their ship date another 2 weeks

Anybody have a few extra .7 module 120 tooth gears laying around they're not using? Equivalent to PIC part#s msg25-120 or msg26-120? Or how about (pretty sure I won't find these) msg25-53 or msg26-53.

We'll gladly pay for them.

Please let me know ASAP if you do. All I really need is one 120 tooth.

Meanwhile....redesigning gearboxes.........

..........PIC Design..........

You can call them...it doesn't matter. They will tell you what you want to hear, they just won't ship. I called a week before they we're supposed to ship and they told me everything was fine. I called them the day they were supposed to ship and it took 2 days for them to figure out it was going to be another two weeks. This is the second time in 3 years they have done this. Time for some other vendors to start making reasonably priced .7 module gears. I guess I can't say enough bad things about PIC.

Re: Looking for gears - anybody have these?

Funny you should mention it. They're a few weeks late with a number of ours as well. We initially ordered in early January, with them quoting 2 weeks lead time (instead of the usual 1), and we're still waiting for several to arrive (some came a week ago).

We've been in contact with them (we've called maybe seven or eight times, at least), and they're ostensibly trying to hurry things up down there, but we'll have to see if they turn up. They've tentatively said that they'll arrive this week, but with estimates varying from three weeks ago to two weeks from now, depending when you asked, I don't know what's likely to happen.

I'd suggest that you call them and ask for UPS red shipping (next-day air), and an expedited order.

On a related note, I've been informed that they want to ship "true metric" gears, instead of converted imperial ones--all that that means is that (for example) the thickness will be 5 mm instead of 4.76 mm = 3/16", the outside diameter of the hub will be 12 mm instead of 12.7 mm = 1/2", etc. That's fine with me, but maybe some teams will have issues with that (if they have tight tolerances, and depend on these dimensions). The teeth themselves will be the same, of course.

Incidentally, I'm looking for 4x MSG26-84, 2x MSG26-54 and 2x MSG26-26, but of course, those are hardly easy to come by. (But I'd like them if you've got them!)

What I've got and what I need for them...

I am sorry that I don't have the 120T gears, I HAD them, but I think I gave them to Artur Ostrowski on Team #469 last year (he works in my building but the fink engineers for Las Guerrillas ;-)

I think I used to have a few 56T ones too but I either used up my stock or gave/traded them away too.

Here is what I DO have:

MSG25-22
MSG25-24
MSG25-32
MSG25-32

It is complicated as to why I have these in my stock but let me just say that the auto industry tends to budget in calendar years with the money in your budget "disappearing" at the end of the year. Some years, it is possible to spend money in December in ways that may not get approved in January... ...enough said.

Anyway, I have what I have. The reason I have them available is that I am sort of out of the custom gearbox business -- I have become convinced that there are cheaper, more robust and lower engineering effort solutions out there. Stop by our pits at one of the competitions we are at and we can talk about it. Look for a white paper after the season is over.

Now for what I want:
Globe motors near infinite supply is desired.
Keyang seat motors, only need 1 or 2
seat motor twist cable.
Gyros from past years kits, though they are not legal, I still like them and would trade for them.
Banner Sensors are useful.
This year's Current sensors with associated PCB are in high demand.
We could use a few extra servos from this year's kit.
We have a few spare Fisher Price motors, but I am paranoid about burning them up, so I would trade for some of them (the ones from THIS year's kit -- motors only, no gearboxes required).

There are probably other trades I'd make but that is all that comes to mind right now.

Private message me if you want to make a deal.

Joe J.
