Victor 884 Calibration Incorrect

That said,

The first Victor 884 I get wired up (attached to one of the drill motors) sent the motor into full forward as soon as the power was turned on. To correct this I quickly hit the Calibrate button, wiggled the joystick back and forth, released the Cal button, and the Victor worked just fine. The only problem is that it has to be manually recalibrated everytime the power is turned off and back on.

In order to check for a defect, I hooked up another Victor with the same connections and this second Victor worked correctly with default calibration without manual intervention.

My question is this: Is there a way for the first Victor to remember its calibration, or should I just replace it entirely with another Victor? It still works just fine, its only the calibration that is off (of course, this won't help on the field).

if you are only going to be using the victors for a drill motor transmission than you only need 2, and could just swap out the one that's giving you problems
seems like the easiest fix
also make sure the joysticks are calibrated correctly. The victors should remain calibrated the same way and should not need to be recalibrated every time you power on teh robot

It sounds like you have a bad speed controller. It is supposed to remember calibration so the intenal memory must be bad. You won't be able to calibrate during competition and you have already fixed the problem by replacing the speed controller. You weren't making metal filings by drilling or such? Metal flakes falling into the speed controllers will damage them and that is not covered under warranty. Check with Innovation First for replacement.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to replace the Victor with a good one and ask our instructor about sending it back for a replacement. (No shavings could be in there on our team's account, because we haven't drilled anything near the Victors: they have been in their boxes until just recently when I tested them out).

Still, we have a tight budget, and it would be nice to have all the Vitors we can, even if we don't use all four of them.

yeah i would send it back to first but before you do that make sure your joystic centerpoint adusts are at neutral and that theres nothing wrong with the program.
