Van Door Motor Thermal Overload Protection

I believe the Van Door motor has a thermal overload PTC protector in it. Is this true?

Does anyone have any information on it? What sort load will activate it, and what sort of power loss occures as it kicks in?

We are using the VAN DOOR motor to lift the robot, and we notice that if we don't get a perfect pull a first (stall the motor) we see it lose strength and NOT able to lift us up. I know little about the thermal overload in the motor.....but I think it is what I am seeing.

Thanks,
-Quentin

Re: Van Door Motor Thermal Overload Protection

Yes, the van door motor does have thermal overload protection: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2371 and http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=11135

What is your gear ratio/winch diameter on the van door motor? We are able to lift at a reasonable speed without coming close to stalling the van door motor.
