Re: High Scores

In Detroit this weekend the high points was 135 and the highest QP was 85. They were not in the same match.

How to beat 210

You need two ball handlers that can hang, plus maybe a specialty robot that can get one or two of the 10 point bonus balls, or steal 5 pt balls from the opponents.

Step one
Both robots go fo mobile goals, bring them over and uncap - hopefully not triggering opponent bonus -1 robot positions mobile goal under oponent ball drop and defends. (A good programable autonomous mode to block out opponents)

Step two
Gather balls ( maybe bonus balls get to human player. Get ten balls into stationary goal, 4 or more into mobile goal (perhaps a yellow or two, cap
both goals at the 30 second left mark.(140) Good herding ability, shooters.

Step three: get two robots hanging.(100) Hard to hang if being pushed.

Total score 240+.

Will we see a 240 at the Nationals - I think so. Will there be a 300 - probably not. There are not enough big ball handlers that can hang. I've only seen 1 10pt ball scored.

Re: High Scores

130 was our high qualifying score, WITH NO HANGERS. We scored small balls and doubled. I wanted to know if anyone beat that with out a hanger yet.

It isn't possible to score points in autonomous! Even if you hang during autonomous, you have to be hanging at the end of the match, so you haven't actually scored until you remain hanging at the end. And your human player can't put any small balls into the goals.

OH!!!!....I just realized that you can score in autonomous! By moving a mobile goal under the ball drop and having the balls drop in.

Exactly! Although I do now realize that the max theoretical score during autonomous will probably about 10 or so (or whatever is the capacity of the rolling goal that didn't bounce out from the momentum of the dropping balls). You can't be in two places at once, though you COULD drag it over the the OTHER drop by sec 45.

Unless of course someone had some SUPER way to collect the dump AND "conveyor" it into the static goal... But I haven't seen ANY robots this year that attempted THAT insanity. You need weight allowance for your bar method so why waste it on a conveyor method that could dump it to the floor. It's much better to INSURE the score with manual control than take ANY chance of that happening.

Scoring during autonomous is TOUGH to do. You'd have to hitch, uncap, drag it under, THEN either run over to the tee, or your PARTNER has to trigger the tee. This must be sequenced properly, and all in under 15 seconds. That takes a partner that can control WHEN they trigger. Did ANYONE manage to do that? If so, you probably have THAT record.
(That also brings up the undefined problem of either communicating between two random robots, or setting timers properly between two EXCELLENT performing autonomous modes...) Now we DID manage to get under, spread, and collect balls during autonomous, but we didn't score them... I'd have to go back and see if anyone remembers how many we collected.

I'm also curious though if ANY team managed to get a ball hopper under the OPPONENT'S chute during autonomous and collect THEIR ball drop, so I'll also propose these high score records:

- The most balls collected from OPPONENT'S drop during autonomous mode.

- The most collected from one drop (at any time).

- The most TOTAL balls DROP collected in one rolling goal (includes autonomous drop, AND opponent's at sec 45, or vice versa).

Did anyone get ALL 18 balls into their robot bin from the drop? Our robot (Team 1015) caught 13 balls twice at 45 sec so we'll toss that out there as the "score to beat". I *think* we also got one or two during autonomous (we weren't QUITE in position when it was triggered) but I'll have to verify if we got any at all.

Any takers on ANY of the other "high score" records I'm proposing, even if it's only ONE ball?

- Keith

I believe the highest score I saw at Manchvegas was about 150. I did miss a few matches whilst preparing to be human player, but I'm fairly sure no one went much higher than that.

On Thursday, during the practice rounds, an alliance of us (Team 1073) and Team Hyper 69 scored well over 200 points during the 2 minute limit. Our robot herded an ungodly amount of balls (it can do four at a time very well) to me and Joe (the hyper human player), and we filled up the stationary goal. That was capped by Hyper. They then hung. Joe and I then proceeded to fill up the mobile goal. Though there was no official tally, I counted the number of balls roughly and the final score was over 200 points.

Man, we were a good alliance. Unfortunately, they were seeded second, and we were seeded ninth, and when 501 (1st seed) picked Hyper, we were bumped up, and therefore unable to be chosen. Hyper's robot played in all of the finals matches and the alliance of Hyper, The Power Knights, and Team 176 eventually won Manchvegas.

But yeah...that was the highest I've seen so far...

Re: High Scores

the first final match @ UCF regional had a tie... and i think that was the highest tie scored this year so far... 120 - 120... 4 robots hanging from the bar and 4 balls in each stationary goal... that was a mad awesome match to see...

Re: High Scores

The highest match I saw was 165 - 60 with 494 (martians) on the winning side and my team (226- TEC CReW) on the losing side. I can't remember the other two teams in that match. the other high one I saw was 120 - 120 in the elimination rounds. The lowest I saw was 10-0 with my team on the winning side. All this at GLR.

Team 492 scored 170 points in one match with Team 1031 , which was tied for highest scoring match at the Pacific NW Regional. See, our team is only two teams older than Team 494, and we both scored the highest points at our respective regionals!!

Ok, i am REALLY lame.

Re: High Scores

The highest qualification score at STL was 145-70 with 1272 and 650 beating 939 and 1182. However throughout the finals at least half the scores involved one or two alliances above 100. All but the first match out of four in the finals saw both alliances above 100 points (80-80, 130-120, 135-140, 135-110).

Highest score at Annapolis this past weekend was over 200. They made an announcement about how this was the highest scoring one in the nation so far. I don't remember exactly what the score was, but both the stationary and mobile goals were capped and both bots were hanging.
