Yes i know, but division 2 sounds very very strong. We are a contender and don't count us out, but there are better teams that have better robots.

In past years that may have been the case but this competition is so unpredictable that I truly belive that many robots have a really good shot of rising to the top.
Plus all the divisions contain regional winners and technical award winners so any division you end up in will be a fight to the finish.
Just remember to bring your A game, my friend.

That is another thing. Last year in Houston we had a very very good robot, but 5 of our alliances did not show up, and didn't even send a Human Player. The other matches our alliances were disabled for some odd reason. So my point is this you cannot depend on your alliance to win you a championship. Maybe it was just bad luck, i hope it was just bad luck, and i hope we have rid ourselves of this bad luck.

Re: Divisions at Championship?

sorry to get off topic, but as i was reading this i too want to know a bit more on this system they had last year with choosing divisions. when FIRST uses that 12341234 do they start at the lowest numbered team and count up or do they just start somewhere in the middle and go full circle?

If Im not mistaken, last year they started with team 1 and went 1234 1234 all the way through the list

Re: Divisions at Championship?

I don't really mind. Our team will do well, as long as it is allied with a good, strong hanger/auto ball dumper

Although I still wish we were in division 1, to form "the old alliance" - 27,111,461

Now that the autonomous on all three is working well, I don't see how we'll lose

If I see John-V-Neun on one more person's "info" who isn't the REAL John-V-Neun

btw, who is John-V-Neun and what is he idolized for?

Re: Divisions at Championship?

The system was different 2 & 3 years ago. 2 years ago they lined up the teams from 1 - ... & the first 10 or so from each row went to 1 division, the next 10 went to the 2nd division, the next 10 to the 3rd & the last 10 to the 4th. They repeated this for each row and that was it. (if my memory serves me right.) I can't remember how they did it in 2001 & I know there weren't divisions in 2000. That was a fun year. I'm not sure if we ever really thanked 22 for picking us way back then. If not, thanks.

Hi Suneel112,
I'm JVN. I'm a college student majoring in mechanical engineering at Clarkson University in upstate NY, and a mentor on team 229. I like FIRST.

I don't know why I'm idolized.

Nice to meet you ,
John

I just don't see them sticking to the same system. They've got to re-shuffle the deck.

I see no reason why they wouldn't stick with the same system. It makes sure there is an even mix of vetran teams and younger teams throuh the different divisions and ensures that the teams are random. The past system was also very easy to impliment.

Yeah it is easy to implement but it can leave a lot of teams together in the same division they were in last year. There will be lots of change but you could gurantee more teams were broken apart by changing the pattern.
