Segway in the movies

I just saw a commercial for a new movie with Jack Black and Ben Stiller called envy. Part of it was Jack Black with a helmet strapped to his head flying around on a Segway. Anyone have any thoughts about the segway being in movies, like whether it will attract celebrity attention or more publicity for the segway? Anyways, just leave me your thoughts.

Re: Segway in the movies

Personally, i can't wait to see 'envy' if for nothing else, to see how much Jack Black is actually on the Segway. I hope it does kinda give a boost to Segway sales (I need a boost in my bank account, but anyway) Now the big question though.. .. .. How much did Segway LLC pay to have it featured with Jack Black, or did JB just have one, figured it's a sign of status and decide to use it?

Re: Segway in the movies

A Segway in Envy? That's nothing to what the Segway was supposed to be in.

If it wasn't for shipping delays, the Segway would have first been in "Goldmember" durring a chase sceen. Instead they now use just regular scooters.

I saw the preview for Envy. I remember sitting at home and saying, "All right! They used a Segway in this movie!".

Re: Segway in the movies

I think it will definitely boost Segway sales some.......as long as people know what it is and that it wasn't some machine custom made for the movie.

Re: Segway in the movies

Working in a movie theater I can tell you that Segway's are in a lot of movies. Yes it's in Envy, and Win a Date, but it's also in Cody Banks 2 as well as other. It's kind of upsetting because I REALLY want one and I can' find enough free money to buy one...oh well there's always graduation.

It wouldn't happen to be arrested development now would it? I'm not certain on that one though.

The show is Arrested Development. I love that show, but unfortunately I've missed seeing the Segway on it.

Re: Segway in the movies

I recall an episode of the Simpsons where Homer was watching the news and anchor man Kent Brockman said something like "In other news.. Segway accident leads to 1000 killed." In another episode of the Simpsons Dr. Hibbert was riding on a Segway

Re: Segway in the movies

I know it was a rerun tonight, (and this is an old thread) but the segway was on the Simpsons again. Mr. Burns had bought out all media outlets in Springfield, so Lisa starts up her own newspaper. Homer and company are out delivering papers, when first a black car driven by a Burns associate sideswipes them. They continue on. Then a helicopter decends and mashes into the top of their car. They continue on. Finally, a guy drives up alongside them on a segway, and runs them off the road. I wasn't set up to record the video, but I did freeze a frame:
