Team Quiz

I remember seeing some QUIZZES (about rules, scoring, their robot, etc) on somebody's team page last year......maybe Technocats?!?!

I thought it was a great idea!

This year WE have been giving quizzes (4th & final one is tomorrow). It really raises the accountability for those kids that are on the fringe. And top scores get $ credited to their account toward trips!

Anyone else give team quizzes?

And does anyone know which team had quizzes on their site last year.....and if they have them again?

LOL

ah yes.....misspelled Kats sorry.

And no.....that wasn't what I was thinking about.....it was a team that had a quizzes that I assumed they gave to their whole team. Some of it specifically about their 'bot.

One question was like.....

The "blah blah" on the robot is made out of
A. aluminum
B. PVC
C. angle iron

Anyone know what I am talking about??

Ahhh........

Yes.....we do that....an i'm sure many other teams do it too....

We mainly takes quizzes on the robot and the game...These quizzes are given to all driver/operator/human player canidates and any other team member/adult that wants to take them..

I think we used to have some examples on our website...but since the re-design they were not added again (plus they were from last year)...

Maybe Andy can post something since he's the main person that makes them...

Mike Bonham is on a distinguished road
Actually we do have a quiz we give to our students, and it's online.

Here is the direct link:

http://www.metalinmotion.com/test.htm

More important than the quiz may be the software that allowed us to so easily publish it as a web page.

It's Half-Baked Software's "Hot Potatoes"

http://web.uvic.ca/hrd/halfbaked/

It works great, is easy to learn, and its free to use for non-profit enterprises.

asher will become famous soon enough
We take the quizzes and you aren't let of the plane until you pass them, they really will send you home on the next flight ... but seeing as our website has been down for who knows how long I cant give you the link.

On ours you have to know, how many motors, function of each of those motors, (last year our prof counted the little motors in the fans on the vics too, it took us quite awhile to figure out why we all had it wrong ) how many cylinders, function of each cylinder, how all the plumbing and wiring goes, all of the game, as well as team facts (# of members, # of enginears, title of each enginear ect.)

If I find where the website went too I'll post it.

We also have quizzes for anyone interested in being a part of the travel team...

The students must take and pass a rules/strategy test that involves the rules of the game, scoring scenerios, and strategies our robot is designed to do. They must pass this before they are allowed to tryout for a spot on the travel team.

Once we make the first cut for things like driver/op/hp/pit/scouting, etc everyone must take an oral technical test and prove sufficient knowledge of the robot.. this includes basic technical stuff (what is the difference between a fuse and a circuit breaker) and being able to point on mechanisms on the robot as well as describe the design and function behind the different mechanisms of our bot. Any college kids looking to travel as well must pass the technical test...

The rules test is online, I don't remember the link off the top of my head.. anyone can email for it and/or i'll post it up here..

-- under a week to go til competition can't wait

WOW!!!

Wow!!! I can't believe that some people can't even travel if they don't pass these quizzes. Like Clark said, we give tests to our candidates for important positions but we don't MAKE the whole team take them. But then again, everyone on our team knows this stuff anyway and its not necessary to quiz them over it if they are just going to scout and work in the pits.
