Re: Do you change your robot for offseason events?

It is definately a good idea to change your robot, as long as its safe(and somewhere within FIRST limiatations). Many teams change their transmission, gears etc, or even design and experiment. It's also educational for the freshmen. Good luck experimenting

Re: Do you change your robot for offseason events?

Mostly just the changing of the tires or just rotating the tires since we kill them putting on demonstrations. Pneumatic tires on FIRST field carpet is good. Pneumatic tires on pavement is a bad thing. Our back tires are worn thin now.

Also, I was told yesterday that we are having our side panels shined up to be all spifffy like. The panels are to be polished and clear coated to keep the shinyness.

Re: Do you change your robot for offseason events?

We don't normally change our robot for off season things but this year we did because we designed and built a bar grabber. We didn't have enough time to put it on the robot for the regionals so we just shipped it in the crate separately. When we got to the competition we decided to not put it on because it would of taken too long to do. So after the compeittion, we put it on and went to the wonderland event to see how we would of done with it.

Re: Do you change your robot for offseason events?

I think my team should change it. Just make it look "pimp", because we will have a booth at the fair and to get sponsers we have to have a killer looking robot. So I think maybe a week before-hand, we will break out the body kit, under glow lighting, subwoofer on it, and tint our lexion on it! and who could forget the little air freshener tree... haha

We're definitely doing that. Also, we gotta make sure the drive works this time. I think we might just change the tires/motor setup for off-season, I think the only one we're attending is the SCRRF Fall Classic.

Re: Do you change your robot for offseason events?

Yes, we try new parts, mechanisms, things we didn't have time to complete or had to sacrifice due to weight. After the offseason events the robot becomes a junkyard. We use the now 3 old robots for training, programing, spare parts, and demonstrations.
