Register Now for the FIRST Women in Science & Technology Forum on Nov. 5!

Greetings Teams!

There's still time to register for the FIRST Women in Science & Technology Forum on Nov. 5!

In conjunction with UNH-Manchester, we are pleased to host our fourth one-day science and technology event for high school students, educators, and science and technology professionals. Participants will explore the role of women in science and technology, learn about college choices and scientific careers, discover successful initiatives, and get connected to a network of science and technology professionals specifically chosen to inspire and mentor young women.

40 presenters from the arenas of business, academia, and government will lead workshops and be available for college and career guidance, in order to help prepare the young women of today for the journey from high school, through college, and into a career.

Sessions will be available in the following five tracks:
  • Biology, Medicine, Veterinary, Chemistry, Pharmacology
  • Engineering, Math, Aerospace
  • Information technology, Software
  • Education, Government, Museums, Arts & Science
  • Earth Science, Geology, Ecology, Meteorology
The workshops and panels are designed to address the present needs and concerns of high school girls thinking about science and technology in their future.

Forum 2004's theme, A Life in a Day, will focus on the high school and college journey in preparation for a career, offering insights on:
  • what questions to ask in high school concerning college & career choices
  • which courses to take in high school and college
  • what colleges are looking for in applicants
  • college requirements and how they vary
  • successful science and engineering programs to pursue in high school
  • programs that exist for young women in college and university
  • learning about career choices
  • guidance and teaching tools for the classroom
  • resources for educators
The event will take place from 9am to 2pm on Friday, November 5 at FIRST Place and the University of New Hampshire-Manchester. Lunch will be provided.

Registration is $10 for students and $20 for educators/adults. To learn more about the Forum and to register, visit http://www.usfirst.org/place/wist2004/index.html .
