I assume you're referring to "protected area" on page six. That's not a border--that's simply leaving a little space around the logo. Crunching it in just looks funky.

FIRST doesn't seem to have a problem with the background color. Hence page thirteen, which refers to "white or pale colored backgrounds" and "black or dark colored backgrounds."

I'm not the clearest on that. I know FIRST prefers these typefaces, and we'll probably see a lot of them in the 2005 manual. But I think it might be useful for some team guidance on that.
