Omniwheels
I'm in charge of the mechanical part of our robot for this year. Looking at last year's competition, I've seen lots of teams using omniwheels. My question would be...
Where did your team get them? or If you made them, how did you make them and with what? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Alex |

Our team purchased some from the above link. Andy Baker started this company and we feel that it is a great product. Check it out. |

Re: Omniwheels
Sorry, I know this isnt one of the questions, but this year we highly debated moving to omnidrive, and we ended up deciding against it. The reason being is yes you can move in any direction, fairly fast, but you lose pushing power so much that we didnt feel it was worth it. The last couple years were strongly about pushing power, so we'll see this year. Its a bit to late now to start thinking about it now.

Re: Omniwheels
You can make your own, which many teams have done with great success, or buy a set from www.andymark.biz
I know from personal experience that their products are top quality, and at $70 a piece, its almost not worth the time and effort to build your own. Edit: it seems 3 people beat me too it by seconds Last edited by Holtzman : 07-01-2005 at 21:58. |

Re: Omniwheels
Whe all else fails, add .com to something: www.omniwheel.com. Check out the "Cat-trak" ones and the aluminum ones with polyurethane rollers.

Re: Omniwheels
we used those on 2004's bot and they worked good. we used a dremel to cut grooves in them to get more traction. they were a bit of a wallet buster too. they were about 500 bucks for 10. theyre woth the money though...
