Is there a maximum number of stacked tetras?

I read the stacked rule as saying all stacked tetras must have their apex(top vertex) within 6 inches of the goal's apex. This would mean only the first 3 or four tetras would count for being stacked. Is that correct, or does "stacked" mean any tetra seated properly is considered worth 3 points.

I read that rule also and didn't quite know what to make of it. Sounds like a good Q&A for FIRST.

Re: Is there a maximum number of stacked tetras?

That's not possible because only the first (you definitley cannot fit more than one in 6 inches, forget 3 or 4) tetra would count and then the animation is entirely wrong.

Re: Is there a maximum number of stacked tetras?

According to the game section of the manual:

Quote:
STACKED – A TETRA is STACKED when it is placed on top of a GOAL or on top of another STACKED TETRA. To be considered STACKED, the TETRA must be properly seated on the subordinate GOAL or TETRA such that all four apex connectors are within six inches of the SUPPORTING structure. Due to the GOAL and TETRA geometries, a TETRA may occasionally not completely “seat” on the GOAL or subordinate TETRA, and remain precariously positioned on top of the structure. Such TETRAS are not considered STACKED. A TETRA is not considered STACKED if it is touching a ROBOT of the same alliance.
The supporting structure is not necessarily the goal. If the tetra is stacked on top of another, the first tetra is the supporting structure. As long as the apex is within six inches from the first tetra, it counts.

Re: Is there a maximum number of stacked tetras?

Good point...

In the definitions:
"STACKED is defined as TETRA is placed on top of a GOAL or on top of another STACKED TETRA."

"The TETRA must be properly seated on the subordinate GOAL or TETRA such that all four APEX connectors are within six inches of the SUPPORTING structure."

Given that definition, I would assume that you can stack as many TETRAs as possible! (try getting 66 TETRAs ON and OFF of the center goal.... )
