Coolest 'Bot Carts

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everyone's posting pics of 'bots and teaser-sections, but where is the real photo action? I want to see pics of carts.

(And yes, I'm the mentor for the team building the cart. Why do you ask?)

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

I am currently working on building our teams new robot cart. It has enough space to hold 2 kit boxes and 2 tool boxes plus extra metal and stuff. It is also a shipping crate for our tools and spare parts. It is motorized using 2 electric wheel chair motors and the electronic components from our 2002 robot. And will also be our cart for the robot as well as a work bench and seating for our pit crew.

Definitely that one was awesome. If I am not mistaken I saw it in ATL last year.

How are you gonna drive that? Are you gonna have controls on it, or a tether or what?

Yes it will be tethered, and we are using a joystick from 2003. The motors are set about walking speed so we will just walk behind it with the robot secured to the top.

Sweet, I gotta do something like that . That one guy early this season was talking about making a hover cart. Has anyone ever seen something like that? It would be relatively easy to make but probably very loud.

130+ pounds of robot and the cart itself may be a tad too heavy to raise with fans operated on a 12 volt battery

who says you need to use a 12 volt battery? You can go bigger, or even possibly use gas.

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

The electric wheel chair motors are running off a 14V battery that came with the donated wheel chair, Plus we are running the 2002 revolving light, 2 big muffin fans and some other lights in the electronics area. I think we would kill a 12V pretty quickly.

Route the output of a gas-powered leaf blower into a flexible skirt and Bob's your uncle. Might be a little loud, though.
