Capping Goal Time

This is probably a multiple of this type of thread, but as of now, how fast can your team's arm grab a tetra off of the floor, bring it up to the top of the middle goal, and cap it?

Re: Capping Goal Time

In testing yesterday, (with our wooden center goal) I nabbed a tetra out from in it and capped it on top in about 3-5 seconds. Mind you, I started within about 2 ft of the goal, with the arm fully retracted. But still, It think that's pretty good time for the center goal. I'm not sure, I haven't heard too much from other teams. I would assume that our arm being operated by a piston will give us some advantages in speed (at least with our setup).

Can you do that same process and time it? I've always found it hard to judge time when under the pressure to do something quickly.

Better yet I'll try to post some video by tomorrow
Will do, though. I'll grab a non-busy student to time it

Re: Capping Goal Time

to go from the ground to the hieght of the tall goal takes about 4 seconds for us, so add a few seconds for positioning the arm and moving the base and that's about our cap time.

i think a better question is how fast can teams get a tetra from a loading zone and cap that tetra.

Re: Capping Goal Time

Right now, without much practice, the arm guy and driver can cap a goal about 10 feet away in 8 seconds. It probably won't realistically get much better than that at competition, considering when we practice there are no other bots ramming us or obstacles in the operators' view.

Re: Capping Goal Time

Team 61 robot can put 9 on in the 2 mins. this is from the auto loader.

I figure with team mates we would be able to get 5 on any goal on the field

to get 9 we would need to put 5 on one goal and 4 on another. anything over 5 goals is where it starts to take more time.

to get to the far goal on the field and capping it would take 15 secs from going and picking up at the auto loader and placing it.

Re: Capping Goal Time

Umm, 2-3.5secs pretty fast. I will be able to give you a real estimate on Saturday when I come back from the NASA Goddard Play Day in D.C.
