Re: Proudest Moment

I think my proudest moment of the season thus far was on the second day of qualifying matches at Philly. We were tied for last (I'm blaming it on no practice matches and testing out different drive teams), when all of a sudden we found two drive teams that worked. The announcer started saying things like "The blue alliance had best watch out for 1394", and we occupied in one match TWO robots on the opposing alliance in defense of our bot, and still managed to cap center.

It was pretty cool to know that even if we werent gonna win, or even get picked for the final rounds, we WERE playing competitvely with some of the best teams around...

Oh, and 'grats to MOE on their win!

Re: Proudest Moment

our proudest moment was at the waterloo regional when we won with the help of team 68 and 1305. This was 1241's first regional won. my personal proudest moment was when i Tested my driving skills by pinning 2 robots in the corner at the waterloo regional.

Re: Proudest Moment

there were many proud moments for me at the Philly regional. I would say our first match on Friday was pretty memorable, because our drive team was so nervous that when we won, we felt a mix of emotions. After we got knocked out of the finals, it was cool to hear everyone on our team stilll congratulating us and cheering.

Definitely getting Finalists at Chesapeake this year. It was so exciting...my voice was so hoarse by Saturday night, but I didn't care. It was so thrilling and amazing..I'll never forget it.

Kamen, not Camen, sort of common mistake.

My proudest moment? It's a tie between winning the first qual match of the regional, winning the GM award and having the autonomous work first time we put it on the field, and fail only once since due to a placement error.

Re: Proudest Moment

My proudest moment this year was winning the Inspiration award. We lost chairmans to one of the best teams in FIRST, Wildstang. Winning the Inspiration award was the closest we have been to chairmans since, I believe, 2002, where we won a regional chairmans award. Hopefully, I will be able to report a more proud moment after the Championships.

Re: Proudest Moment

I've got a couple from this season... mentioned in the order that they occurred:

1) At SVR, waiting for the announcement of the AVA winner, hearing and seeing our animation on the screen, and just sitting there, stunned.

2) Also at SVR, watching my babies (team 1560) getting picked for alliances advancing to the quarterfinals, and later, finding out that they got Highest Seeded Rookie.

Re: Proudest Moment

When my rookie team, ranked at 46 at that time allied with a team that was ranked in the 60s, with the third team missing, we managed to tie in a match with the #1 team, #8 team and #10s team. (0 : 0), we could have won with a 1:0 if our ally's human player didn't step out of boundary,

Re: Proudest Moment

Sitting across from a football coach and mentor of a team, who's telling me that he's seriously considering quitting football for his new FIRST team.

Watching him tell us how his kids, who he considered spoiled and overly competitive, once at the regional, jumped to the aid of a nearby team in aid.

The coach telling us that it already changed a few student's goals in life, even aiding those who were down on the wrong path.

The football coach telling us that he stood in front of his team with an empty budget, asking them that, if asked to go to nationals, who would be willing to work their butts off to pay to go. And getting every hand raised.

Having that coach look at my mentor and I, thanking us for helping start his team and aiding him throughout. Seeing the spirit of FIRST in his eyes.

But most of all, watching FIRST bestow them the honor of Rookie All Star.

There was no prouder moment for me, nor a better reminder of why I spend so much time a week trying to spread FIRST.

hhhmmm...good question Shyra. I would have to say our first win at GTR, after being disappointed twice by missing allied teams, failed programming and just getting beat it was extremely exciting. I was so proud of you guys. I am pretty sure I screamed so loud Alisha temporarily when deaf in her left ear.

P.S. Shyra, you never posted yours...unless I somehow missed it.

Re: Proudest Moment

So I started this thread, but I never actually answered my own quetion. I actually have three proudest moments, one for 771, one for 1353, and one as my own personal one.

I was so proud of SWAT when I saw Mildread moving and stacking and working the way she should for the first time at competition. I was even prouder when we broke our losing streak at the end of Friday.

For 1353, only a fellow FIRSTer can know what was going through me when I heard an alliance captain choose team 1353 to be their alliance.

Now my own personal moment. This one was the reason I started the thread in the first place, but decided to wait until later to post. It was when my teacher and I were discussing universities, where I had been accepted, and where I want to go. He told me to go to University of Toronto instead of Waterloo so that I would be nearby and could mentor. To know that he thinks that I have the ability to be a mentor means so much to me because it showed me that he had recognized my hard work and believed in me.

So those are my proudest moments of the year ...

Re: Proudest Moment

My proudest moment was October 28th. This was the day that Principal Parker agreed he would still support and help fun a team at Harmony High. This was a relief due to the hurricanes that damaged our school, Mr. Fritts and I and I were not completely sure if his handshake earlier in the year still applied. This was also the day we got our team number, 1604. Everything after this point was gravy, if the team would not have won a single match nor an award this year, I would still be extremely proud of all the accomplishments that have come from that day.
