617's Inventor Bot
I don't know I I am going to be able to submit this or not, but I thought I would ask anyway: Is there anything glaringly wrong with this? I need to finish the wiring, but I think that is about it. I would appreciate your feedback

Re: 617's Inventor Bot
Looks great to me. You have wiring and chain, so you're miles ahead of our one man Inventor team (me), and it looks extremely detailed. Great job!

Reguarding chain, it is a band with extruded bumps. Reguarding wires, they are segements becuse I even after I unstalled SP2 (which helped) I couldn't route wires. Luckly the segments worked OK and look like wiring |

Re: 617's Inventor Bot
Awesome dude (I'm from California, leave me alone). You guys are years ahead of me, the only one on our team with enough initiative to do a model right. Or try to anyway.
How did you do those wire? Did you use cable/harness? If so, how do you use cable/harness? All I know, is what I learned from the tutorials! My model is a good week from completion so, props for completing it. |

Re: 617's Inventor Bot
I used cables and harnesses, but I don't think I did it the way that I was suppost to. I made a harness part in my main assembly. I selected Segment. I clicked on the first part for the wire and then on the other end for the wire. Finish. Right click on teh segment and select "add point" Add points that you cna move to shape the wire. Finish. Right click on points and select "3D move/rotate". move the points until they look right. Right click on the segment and select "harness properties" and set the color and the diameter so it looks right. When you exit the harness part, the wires will slit color (not transparent)
I'm the only one on our team that knows Inventor, And I don't even know how or when I learned it. I think I heard about it last year, But I just knew what I was doing this year. Last edited by jdiwnab : 08-03-2005 at 11:07. |

My inventor "team" is just me too. I think the problem you may have had with routing the wires is that it wont let you route if the segment starts at the pin the wire should connct to, but i did it more or less the same way as you; one difference though i tried to add points that were on corners of parts. (try moving your assembly and you will see why), and btw the wires are just lines, with no thickness to them, the only effect the thickness has is on the thickness of the segment it will go through. Wires do have thickness as do segments. There is a feature "Display as Render" that shows a wire or segment as a thick piece. |

I thought id already got that on, would triy it now but inventors trying to do a 400000 occurance array ($@#$@#$@#$@# decimal point whyd i have to delete it with preview on), but segments also work for pneumatic tube, so used them.Oljomo |

What do you have four hundred thousand array of?! I thought I tried too much with 190 occurance array for my tread. |

read the rest of my post, i was trying to do a 40 occurence, but accidently deleted the decimal point (and put another digit in, as inventor puts three 0s after the point by default it thought i wanted 400000. it crashed it. i would have just quit but i hadnt saved my work (lesson: save frequently) oljomo |
