Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
2003 Robot Rodeo - Team Spirit Award! The first award we've ever won! We were shocked... We were all so incredibly proud to finally win something - ANYTHING, and it came as a team spirit award. This really inspired a lot of people and gave them confidence. Our robot competed horribly and was an extreme design intended to specialize in something. It ended up specializing in dead last place at UCF. This was depressing as we had never worked so hard. But then to win the team spirit award in the offseason just showed that the team was strong regardless of our robots performance. We were so incredibly happy about that little award!
2004 2nd seed UCF - Finalists with 1083 and 180 (very cool to ally with our Brothers and sisters) - Judges Award. Robot Rodeo 1st place with 1402 and team spirit award again! Curie finalist at nationals with 11 and 190 - this was an honor to be allied with that amazing 190 machine! 2005 2nd seed UCF again - Delphi driving tommorows technology award - 1st place finish with 233 and 1529 again a huge honor to be allied with 233. After all these years admiring their machines we actually worked with them and won! |

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
Hmmm.... thinking....
3. Ramp Riot October 2002 - Even though team 84 had obtained a great deal of "hardware" over the years, no one had latched onto a Champion title at any event to date. After a long grueling day against excellent Mid Atlantic area teams.... Chuck finally snags his first Champion title. 2. Mid Atlantic Regional March 2002 - A whirlwind of never ending events. Chuck and Moose sweep up the Leadership In Control Award Friday evening, and amaze individuals on their ingenuity and design. After a long, amazing match with team 95 "Grasshoppers" (last match) Saturday afternoon, Chuck and Moose obtain yet more hardware with #1 Seed. The wind picks up again when we are honored with highly seeded team 25 accepting our offer as our Alliance Partner, and we end as Regional Finalists. All in all we qualified and made the trip to 2002 Nationals, and pre-qualified and made the trip to the 2003 Championship Event. 1. National Championship Walt Disney World April 1999 - The team that nobody knew. "Up CHUCK!" Chuck Pi, gets picked up as the third alliance partner for the finals, and finishes up a dreamy weekend as National Runner-Up. |

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
For Team 233, my present team. Caveat--I wasn't with the team for some of of the events on my list, so other's opinions may vary from mine.
Championship 2002--winning the division Florida regional 2005--being top qualifier and winning regional NYC 2004--going through the entire event undefeated For Team 45 which I was with for 7 years. Championship 1998--winning the Big Event the last year before alliances Great Lakes regional 1998--finishing second after two "award-less" years Midwest regional 2002--regional Chairman's Award There have also been a number of less clearly defined "days in the teams' history" which are very significant, such as learning that team members have been admitted to MIT and have won major scholarships. Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
March 4,5 and 6, 2004
We had shipped off the robot thinking that we might pull off top 20. 4th- Saw we had a chance of seeding 5th- Ranked #1 (or 2nd, can't remember) Between the days...Norowalk Plaque hits...takes out Primary shooter and puts drivers at risk. 6th- Pulled down to 2nd, got to finals, lost by 3seconds Top 3 days for 616 in my opinion |

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
As for team 88...
Nationals 1996: Liz Calef won the national Woody Flower's award!!! Nationals 1997: Team 88 picked up 7 tubes at once to show that 7 tubes could be done and placed on top of the goal. Nationals 2001: Mike Moran received a full scholarship to Northeastern University. Last edited by Pin Man : 01-02-2006 at 01:54. |

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
1. Saturday at Nationals, 2003 - We won our first Division at Nationals, in addition to winning the Entrepreneurship award.
2. Saturday at Philadelphia, 2003 - We won the first of three consecutive Regional Chairman's Awards (a steak we hope continues!). 3. Saturday at Nationals, 2005 - We won a National Judge's Award, National Chairman's Runner-Up, and our friends on the Vex team from Singapore brought home Vex's highest prize. Runner Up (not really a Top day itself but one that would be indicative of the future of our team): Ramp Riot 1, 2000 - The team hosted one of the first off-season competitions in the area for the first time. Since then, the event has grown to twice the size but is still the hilight of our offseason every year. |

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
116 top competition moments (my father already pointed out some of the far more important moments):
2001 VCU Saturday-4th seed, challenges #1 in the semifinals (only 4, 5-team alliances that year) 2005 Annapolis Friday-wins Autodesk Visualization Award, Xerox Creativity Award. Dave Lavery wins Woodie Flowers Finalist Award 2005 Championship Friday- 116 goes 3-1-1, ranked 17th at end of day in Archimedes. More significantly, FVC Team 18 finishes ranked 5th, and is selected into the #2 alliance by team 27. Along with Teams 27 and 48, 18 wins the FIRST VEX Pilot Competition, completeing a 12-2 championship season. |

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History
Almost every day on team 25 seems like the best day we have had, but anyways. I can by no means pick 3 days because that is incredibly hard. We have had great moments through our 10 years. However, there is one event that sticks out.
Winning the championship in 2000 changed team 25 forever. On one end, we always built great robots after that and had to worry less about building bad robots. Thanks to the support of Bristol Myers Squibb. After winning, we were able to get BMS to support 5 other teams in the region and we ourselves started to spread the word of FIRST like its suppose to be. As the RINOS motto goes - We build FIRST to last. As you can see, this one event led to hundreds of other great moments. |
