Question What's the best organizational structure for photos?

I have some FIRST-related photos on a web site, covering 2003-2005. The current organization is grouped by event, sorted by year, so that it looks like this:

Code:
2005 Finger Lakes Regional
--> sub-categories
2005 Finger Lakes Exhibition
2004 Xerox Science Consultant Evening of Recognition
2004 X-Cats Picnic
2004 Finger Lakes Exhibition
2004 Championship Event
--> sub-categories
2004 Buckeye Regional
--> sub-categories
2004 X-Cats Season
2003 Awards Reception
--> sub-categories
2003 Championship Event
2003 Buckeye Regional
I've gotten some comments that it's hard to find photos, so I starting thinking of ways to improve the organization. Should I leave it as is or would changing it to a topical organization structure, sorted alphabetically, subsequently organized by event make more sense? In that example, it would look more like this:

Code:
Abstract
After Westwind
Awards
-->2005
-->2004
-->2003

Re: What's the best organizational structure for photos?

I liked how you organized FLR's folder and I think that would be the best way to organize events.
Are you going to be at the championship this year?

Unfortunately, no. I am, however, planning on being at the Finger Lakes Regional in 2006.
