Need help with gear box bearings

I posted this in the technical section, but it appears that no one is there to see it at the moment. So I greatly apologize if this thread is out of place, but I need an answer quick.

We're trying to make a second drivetrain to practice piloting. We have everything for the gearbox, except for the bearings, which don't come with the kit. I need to know the thickness and dimensions of the bearings so we can get them ourselves. Can anyone help please?

Thanks!

Re: Need help with gear box bearings

I think you're referring to grey container item 1 in the KOP list

Re: Need help with gear box bearings

Yes, we have that list and we have the item number, but we couldn't order it from FIRST and we searched around with that info. given to us and could not find anything at any of the hardware shops. So we need the the diameter of the bearings and their holes, and the thickness dimensions so we can go find the bearings ourselves.

Re: Need help with gear box bearings

Can anyone please assist?
thanx

[edit]or if anyone has any bearings with them, could they measure them and give us the dimensions? All of our bearings are currently on the robot, which we don't have access to till the competition, of course . If anyone could do that it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need help with gear box bearings

Argh , it says the part number can't be found (39KDD and 9103KDD) . Thanks for all your help, but I think the only way to get the part is to get the actual dimensions. Anybody have bearings on them?

Re: Need help with gear box bearings

I found this on IFI's site, on their FAQ forums for the transmissions -- Paul Copioli posted this:

What are the transmission bearing specs?

There are two types of bearings used in the transmission. Below is a list of the bearings and various supplier's part numbers:

1. 17mm I.D. x 35mm O.D. x 10mm thick deep groove ball bearing.
- SKF part # 6003-2Z (with shields)
- TIMKEN (FAFNIR) part # 9103KDD (with shields)

2. 9mm I.D. x 26mm O.D. x 8mm thick deep groove ball bearing.
- SKF part # 629-2Z (with shields)
- TIMKEN (FAFNIR) part # 39KDD (with shields)

Please reference pages 1-6 and 5-3 in the "2005 FIRST Robotics Competition Kit Transmission Manual."
