If you have a digital camera and a few memory cards and alot of time on your hands it can be done.

You can find Andrew and his CD's hanging around the Robonaut's pit in Curie. Follow the giant tetra.

Re: Pictures of 341 Robots?!

Did any of the Vex 'bots make the cd? Or is it just normal FRC robots?

Re: Pictures of 341 Robots?!

Just wanted to say thank you to Andrew for the picures, they helped us out quite a bit trying to match up team numbers with their robots. If people are still interested in them (even though the competition is over), I may be able to host them on one of my webservers.

Pictures of 341 Robots?!

Was it done in ONE day? YES.
By ONE person? SORTA. (I received lots of crucial help from my father)

First off, I'd like to give a HUGE thank you to Team 108 SigmaCat. Not only did they generously burn 80+ data CDs full of pictures, they did me the enormous favor of including those CDs with the CDs they were handing out (which contained videos of all the matches).

For the record, I took over 750 pictures of robots on the Thursday of the competition. In order to get a picture of all 340 robots that were on the team list that I acquired from usfirst.org on Tuesday, I went around taking pictures from about 10:30 AM until they turned of the lights in the pits at 8 PM. Why 750 pictures? Well, I tried to get each robot from 2 different angles, but also because the lighting in the pits was not always ideal for picture taking, so many extra pictures were taken for insurance.

I had hoped to label all the pictures, organize the data-CD, and start burning them Thursday night. What an ordeal that turned out to be! I didn't manage to start burning CDs until Friday night.

I came to the Convention Center on Saturday morning with about 20 CDs ready to distribute and I was continuing to slowly burn new CDs at about 1 every 4 minutes on my laptop. Had it not been for the help of Team 108, I never would have been able to give out as many CDs as I did.

By the end of the day on Saturday, I had given out more than 100 CDs. If your team did not get one and wanted one, I apologize. I just didn't bring enough CDs...

I hope every person/team who received a copy of the CD likes the pictures. If any team is planning to host the pictures on their website, please post/send me a link so that I can see them in all their glory on the internet.

I'm considering doing this again next year. I will, however, try to get the CDs out before the end of the day on Friday, so that teams will be able to use the pictures to coordinate scouting and such.

Any thoughts?

-Andrew

Thanks again to Team 108.
