PartitionMagic 7 vs Sony Vaio
I am unable to get back into the Windows xp Home Edidion on my Sony PCV-MXS20 computer after using PartitionMagic 7 and trying to remove the partition between drives C and D. My bootup disk will not work nor will the PartitionMagic Rescue Disk. The only option I presently seem to have is to use my Sony System Recovery disk which will erase some of my important files.
Am I doomed? Ron ![]() |

Re: PartitionMagic 7 vs Sony Vaio
Before doing that, see if anyone you know has an External Hard Drive Enclosure. If the data on there is worth around $20 to you, buy one from NewEgg.com. With it you can remove the hard drive and plug it in via USB to another computer, copy out your data, and then reformat the hard drive.
Perhaps someone else may know a way around your problem, but if you are at the last resort stage, consider the enclosure to recover important data. Most likely something involved with acutally booting Windows got screwed up and not the file structure. If this is the case, data should be recoverable. |

Re: PartitionMagic 7 vs Sony Vaio
The exact same thing happen to me, but luckily I backed up my data just before I did that. Try using one of the bootable Linux CDs to backup the important files onto a CD or something.
