Grant application help needed

Ok, so i'm filling out an application for a grant from a large local coorporation. I am a bit stumped by a few questions:

2. What impact will the funds have on the mission of your organization and the goals of the project (if project related funds)?

3. What specific outcomes do you anticipate and how will they be measured (if applicable)?

4. Given the community issue/need that your organization is designed to address, what impact will this grant have?

Any ideas?

Re: Grant application help needed

Well, knowledge of what the company actually does in the world would help a lot more, but here is a start (Im going to assume for now that its some sort of engineering type company).

The funds will be used to help buy materials and parts for the robot, and allow the team to travel to competitions. (embelish on that with exactly what you plan to do with their money). This competition is used to inspire students to pursue science and technology related fields, using the competition as a vehicle for inspiration.

We intend to compete well and inspire students in science and technology. While these outcomes are not paticularly measurable, we will look at the number of students who pursue careers in science and technology, or advance to science and technology classes within the high school. (You need to add in some quantifiable measures here that allow the company to justify why they spent the money. Ironically enough, see my post within this thread for ideas.

This grant will allow us to enter and travel to a competition which allows our team to pursue the engineering process in pursuit of designing and building a robot to compete in an internation competition. The events and the process are very inspiring to our students.

Now I dont think I have written that very eloquently at all, but at least it gives you an idea of what to start writing about Good luck! Let us know how it turns out!

Re: Grant application help needed

MOE has filled out many grant applications and I can give you some idea of how we answered these questions. But we've had little success so far, so you may want to get other ideas as well!

2. What impact will the funds have on the mission of your organization and the goals of the project (if project related funds)?

I don't think we have had to answer this question, but you may want to emphasize that the funds will be used to enable the students to supplement their own fundraising to allow them to travel to competition. If they can't travel to the competition then they can't experience the full impact of the program. These places like to see that the students are doing some of the work for funds in addition to asking for grants.

3. What specific outcomes do you anticipate and how will they be measured (if applicable)?

"Our mission is to inspire and motivate young people to pursue science and technology careers and become confident , self-reliant, responsible citizens poised to make a real difference in our world using a fun, creative, and unique environment that extends learning beyond the classroom. We measure this by the percentage of our students who attend college after graduation, and the percentage who pursue science or technology careers. "

(We also add some figures about our support of FLL teams and the expansion of the FLL program, if that if applicable to you.)

4. Given the community issue/need that your organization is designed to address, what impact will this grant have?

Again, we haven't had this exact questions, but for something similar we used:
"Who are the scientists and innovators of tomorrow? The reality is, there are too few students interested in pursuing careers in the sciences and mathematics.
It was in response to the lack of talented minds entering the sciences that inventor Dean Kamen began FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Involvement in a FIRST program exposes young people to the world of engineering and inspires them to pursue intellectual excellence. Talented professionals mentor young people through the process of solving complex and challenging questions in a fun and exciting atmosphere, a unique "varsity sport for the mind"."

See if any adult mentors would like to join NEMO, the Non-Engineering Mentor Organization, to help assist you with projects like this.
To join NEMO, the adult mentor must register on chiefdelphi and then pm me or KathieK.
