Great Matchups That Never Were

Ever since I first saw Team 71 Beatty's BEAST in action, I was dying to see it pitted against our three goal grabber MOEhawk. This head-to-head battle of the three goal grabbers seemed likely when we were both put in Newton Division. I could tell by the many visits to our pit, that Team 71 was also curious. This matchup never happened during the Qualification Rounds. This match seemed set for the Newton Semifinal. However, our Quarterfinal Curse showed its ugly head as fuses on the OI and the robot controller malfunctioned before Match 3 in the Quarterfinals. Although it was fixed before the match, it was too late to put the robot on the field. Thank you, Beatty for offering to help with spare fuses. Unfortunately, Our alliance lost the match and all hope of facing the BEAST to the formidable GM Alliance.
There is no telling which bot would win this hypothetic matchup between the BEAST and MOEhawk. I know that MOEhawk is faster, so he would get the goals first, but what would happen after that?
Could the BEAST's arms break MOEhawk's wings while pulling the outer goals into its body? Could the high torque file card shuffle drive of the BEAST push MOEhawk's brakes backward (no one else has, they have only spun us)? Would the carpet rip in half under the force of the pushing match and both bots get DQed?
Does anyone else have a matchup that they would have liked to see but didn't?
Congratulations to Team 71 for becoming the first team to win two consecutive National Championships and three National Championships total. Thank you for including us in one of those Championships. Congratulations to Team 173 RAGE and Team 66 on their National Championships. Congratulations to Team 175 BUZZ on winning the Chairman's Award. I knew you would win. See you at the PA Robot Challenge.

we all got to see 118 vs. 469 and 71 vs. 60 but we never got to see 469 vs. 60. I don't know if it ever happened but i never saw 175 vs. 173, that would have been good. two of the best ball bots head to head. I wanted more than anything to see the all GM match, 65 and 66 vs. 67 and 68. that would have been a good one.

Just out of curiosity, I'd like to see 201 vs 007 in a one goal, first to put goal entirely into scoring zone, face off.

121 vs 173

I was really hoping to have a match against 173 becuase I think that we are both extremly good ball bots and I think it might be a close match up and it might come down to who can control the goal the best. There is always off season competitions.

Matches I would have liked to have seen....

Team 60 vs. Team 190.....we were both wishing for it in San Jose, and we were hoping that we would be in the same division at nationals....would have been truely a great match

Team 71 vs. Team 190....at one point later on during the day on Friday, we went outside to do some practicing on the carpet, and low and behold Beatty was out there as well. We have been using the file cards as part of our anchoring system since the orignal 6 weeks, so we wanted to see if we could actually be moved. We placed Gompei out in front, and let them go at it....we couldn't be moved, and it would have been truely great to see what would have happened in a qualifying or elimination match

Team 180 vs. Team 61....I've seen the terror that is known as Fluffy, and I have heard about Team 61 up the road, and I would love to see this battle of power out on the field.

Im sure there are others....

i cant remember exactly with whom we were paired with but our team got the highest score, 198, and our opponents got a score of 0 due to their tether getting wrapped around a goal, I would call that the best mtch ever

For me the great matches that never wore would have been 383 & 64 playing together against anyone in 2002, just like we did in 2001. So bad we didn't get to be in the same alliance in the PNW regional and we were in different divisions in Orlando.

Once in the Newton division there was a match with three countries involved. It would be awesome to have a match with USA, Canada, Brazil and England next year. Spread it to the world!

About the 71 vs 365, the start of the match would be really interesting, but the rest probably would be very boring.

Im sorry to hear for the teams that didnt get into the quarterfinals. After all the hard work that teams do It hurts to see a team not go to eliminations, but i hope everyone had a fun time. Too bad we couldnt have fun rounds for robots that didnt get into eliminations. Eventhough we did make it to the quarter finals, we wanted to have a freindly match against 122 since we never got to go against them!

did anyoen see 469 against 330, that was a pretty decent match up

and 95, you guys are by far the most amazing bot at picking up balls, its incredible how you do that..... you guys would have been really dangerous if you had had a goal grabber

I'm guessing the only MOE giveaway you don't have Alex is a warped piece of wing.

469 vs 60

469 & 60 were by far the most dominant 2 goal grabbers in the competition. The clever turret design on each bot would have made for an exciting 2 minute tug of war with each latched onto the middle goal. Add 2 excellent ball bots in the match and it would be even more exciting.
