Check out page 12 of the IFI FRC Robot Controller Reference Guide for the meaning of the lights.

Sounds like a coding problem.

Re: control thingy

It sounds to me like the program itself may be faulty. Did you compile the program before downloading to check for any errors?
If it wasn't the default program that is causing this, then I suggest re-downloading the default program back onto the robot.

If it was the default program that did this, then I assume that a glitch was involved in the downloading process, or the Robot Controller (I assume that is what you are talking about) may be faulty. I don't know If this happened to any other teams, but when we first started up a brand new system with a default program on it, it took a little time for the program to get "used to" the controls. But eventually the whole thing started to run without any problems.

I hope this helps.

As stated by the others, try downloading the default code. The FRC_default.hex file should work.
