Re: Well, Whats your job?

Forklifts are awesome. I recently got certified in operating one. It was of the agricultural type, but they are all fairly similar.

My past job was as a computer technician for the school district doing mostly new installs. It was fun, but then I became a full time college student.

I'd disagree. Working fast food is not much different than voluntarily taking a stroll through hell, but it gives you a different perspective on things when the guy at the drive-thru asks if you want to Sonic Size it.

I don't have a job at the moment that pays me. However, I do have activities that are job-like in nature, which currently include WUSC-FM and 1293. (What else could get me up on a Saturday morning?)

Over summer, I worked at Sonic and at Bethel Camp for the Arts, teaching web design, rocketry, and (of all things) robotics in what might be the most beautiful small town I've been in. (By small, I do mean small. Bethel is a no-stoplight town.)

Re: Well, Whats your job?

I was in the fast food industry Burger King my senior year for a few months, until robotics season came around... Glad those days are over!

Anyway, I have had SIX jobs, 19 years old.

1. (03) T-JMaxx AKA Lumper, I unloaded semi truck trailers by hand and of course I got paid by the truck!

2. (03 - 04) Burger King, I prepared food and cleaned.

3. (04) Proctor & Gamble, varied jobs daily.

4. (04 - Present) PSU Work-Study, I am the Student Activities Director Assistant.

5. (05) R&H MFG, I ran various manual and CNC machines in production runs of parts.

6. (05- Present) Main Technologies, I run various machines. Anything from the bender to the milling machines. We make lift chair frames, lift bed frames, et cetera.

And no I've never been fired.

Re: Well, Whats your job?

All before I turned 20, I worked doing numerous jobs: stuffing Sunday papers in a warehouse, alphabetizing and filing insurance papers, tending the oven at a pizza place, carrying out groceries at a local store, doing customer service at Circuit City, and even pricing and distributing merchandise at a school supply store.

Now, I am an assistant in my university's Archives and Special Collections Resource Center... which basically means I deal with old collections and random artifacts. We have a lot of cool stuff, like the third largest Steinbeck collection in the world, Salvador Dali's paintings of Alice in Wonderland, and a huge World War I poster collection.

I'm currently writing a bibliography documenting the almost 800-book Nazi Collection that we hold.

Re: Well, Whats your job?

I serve Popcorn and Soda at the $2 movies, The movie theater job is one of the easiest for teens, you only do work when the movies are starting so half the night is like being on break.

In the summers I am a counselor at a Boys and Girls Club camp, I teach Rocketry/Robotics and have a group of 13 year olds.

Re: Well, Whats your job?

In high school I worked at Dairy Queen, and briefly at a local grocery store. In college I worked in the college library. After college I worked in the public library for a short time, and for 25 years at United Technologies Corporation in various corporate library postitions. I had a wooden toy business with my husband (I was really good at sanding). I currently maintain the Saint Joseph College (CT) website. I was also a professional clown for a while. Those were the paying jobs. I've had a ton of volunteer jobs.

My first job was at Ames until I ran them out of business and went to college.
Then I worked third shift at the JC Penny warehouse sorting clothes and loading trucks for distribution to the stores.
Now, I work at Staples on the weekends.
