CMU Cam prosseser running hot

Has anyone noticed that the processor on the 2006 CMU cam in running hot, as in it might burn you if you leave your finger on it long enough. Is it just messed up or should our team return it?

I hate to ask the obvious but... are you using a PWM cable to provide power from an unused PWM output on the RC and do you have a 7.2 backup battery installed on the RC? If you are attempting to power the camera from 12 volts (main battery) or another power source, through some other cable or connection, the camera may be over voltage. Specs are 5.2 to 8.6 volts max on power input.

i am on team 555 who started this thread, and we are running the rc with just the backup battery and a pwm to the camera. and the processor on the board is hot enough to burn someones finger.

It sounds like the local regulator may be shorted. I would contact IFI for advice, return authorization , etc. The proc should not burn fingers.

The power regulator in the CMUCam is rated up to 15 volts, so I doubt 12 would make it hot.
