Lightbulb The Answer to this years game - 42!

So, today I was talking to Lil Lavery online.

Lil Lavery: any breakthroughs in your quest for the ultimate strategy?
Me: I know the answer!!
Me: 42

And so now I shall explain why we decided the answer is 42.

4+2=6 -- The number of robots.
4+2=6 -- Total number of goals.
4-2=2 -- The number of alliances.
4*2=8 -- The number of alliances that move onto finals.

4 corner goals 2 center goals.

You can separate it too. FORTY - TWO
40*2=80 -- Total number of balls.

42+42+4^2=100 -- Total POSSIBLE autonomous points per alliance.
42+42+42+42+42 = 210 -- 2 min 10seconds in a match

There are 4 periods in the game 2 of which have designated offensive and definsive teams.

And 42 backwards is 24:
24 = total number of drive team members between the two alliances.

Four denotes stability, physical limitations, hard labor and earthly things, as in the four corners of the earth. It also stands for materialistic matters. You get things done.
Two stands for diversity, partnership, soul, or receptivity. It can also symbolize double weakness or double strength. There is a duality as in male and female, mother and father, yin and yang, etc.
source:www.dreammoods.com

04 and 02 -- last two games with balls.

4 "regular" CIM motors, 2 CIM "mini-bike" motors

Is this an answer, will this number solve everything for the year? Or is it all just coincidental : ponders :

Post your thoughts, or even YOUR 42's

That is amazing!

But I found one:

4^2-(4+2) is the number of balls that can start on your robot in autonomous.

That's all I have. Ashley's crazy analysis took almost everything I can think of...

EDIT: I swear I remember typing in those parenthesis's.

I was thinking of 4^2-(4+2) = 16 - 6 = 10, but somehow I must have forgot the parenthesis among all those brackets...

This is also exactly why I don't work on robot designs at 1:30 in the morning.

That is a mighty long match!

I'm sure you will figure out how to get 130 using 42s. I had no idea that 42 would turn out to be such a good strategy! Our team missed it in all of our brainstorming. I'm sure tonight we will reformulate our strategies based on this discovery.

42+42+42-(4+2) = 120 The maximum weight of the robot (minus bumpers and the battery.

4^2+4^2+(4+2) = 38 The maximum length dimension, in inches, of the robot at the start of the match (minus bumpers).

4^2+4^2-4 = 28 The maximum width dimension, in inches, of the robot at the start of the match (minus bumpers).

42+4^2+2 = 60 The maximum height dimension, in inches, of the robot (minus the flag).

42+42+42+42-4^2-4 = 148 The maximum weight of the robot including the battery and the bumpers.

42+42+42+42-4 = 166 Our team number
