I always thought a trained bio mechanical mokey wrapped in aluminum foil would be the best robot, but every year my team says "No Pete, go sit down."

Re: what type of shooter will be most common this year?

I voted for the baseball type just because I think its simplicity will be attractive to many teams. Also, what exactly is a launcher? Don't all of these devices launch the ball? The cannon design needs similar clarification.

Re: what type of shooter will be most common this year?

to clarify the poll a launcher would be something like a platform under the ball lifting and pushing the ball out.

a cannon would be equivalent to using a type of reaction to create a...sort of explosion... and lift the ball out

Re: what type of shooter will be most common this year?

I think the baseball launcher will be used the most due to simplicity and accuracy, that or "none" will be the biggest.

since i'm about 5' tall, we figured we'd just duct tape some CIMs on me, teach me to throw balls, and then watch movies like office space for the remaining 5 weeks

Re: what type of shooter will be most common this year?

so the most common type of shooter mechanism this year will probably be a baseball shooter.

why? i mean i know that its simple but doesnt it reduce accuracy?

What about a belt-driven launcher?

Speaking as a person who has made black powder in his basement, even if this was legal it would suck. Black powder doesn't "explode" per se, instead it sort of fizzes and makes lots of stinky smoke then leaves a residue thats near impossible to remove. Guncotton on the other hand...
