[solved]cmu cam woes... inability to target its objective

Allright, so we have built the light for the field (finally) and we have mounted the camera on the bracket.
we have also hooked up all the wires in their correct posistions and polarities, and the camera cn search for its target.

the only problem tho, as soon as it finds the target, it will tilt upwards. and to make theings worse, it wont pan. it is almost as if it has somehow aquired a different target, but as soon as we move the light the camera goes back to searching.

so basiacally, it will find the target, but it will always tilt upward away from the light, without any reason we can see. and yes, we have tried fillping the axes of tilt and pan. why is it doig this?

Are you running the camera through LabView, or through the RC?

Re: cmu cam woes... inability to target its objective

thru the RC.
We got it to run fine in lab view, it really just doesnt like us.

i think we may have figured it out tho... i did a bit of reading and found out that the EEPROM overrrides the set values in the program if you are running the bells and whictles version.
so this means that it is probably tracking a default color or something.
i dunno... any mre obvious explanations then what we have come up with?

Make sure that you didn't mount the camera upside down, load the camera code without modification and see if it works. If you're going to mount your camera upside-down, change both pan and the tilt rotation signs from the tracking menu and try it out.

EDIT: okay, nevermind. the camera was in the right way.
we reloaded the default values, and it still did not track.

may the problem be that we were using last year's camera?

ONE MORE EDIT: somehow we got it to work. a little bit of beer (lol) and saturation levels is all we really needed.
the flicker in the backgrond was confusing the camera.
