CAD-CAM and Dewalts

Im not here to make yet another request for CAD of dewalt transmission but since i was gonna ask about 1 thing i figured i would do it in the same post.

Firstly
I need help mounting a dewalt CIM combo. What are someof the things that other people have done that have (or havent is still helpful) worked.

Secondly
How do most teams take their autodesk part files and make them on a CNC. I have access to a few Toshiba CNC's and mastercam 8.?.? but am very unfamilier with it. I alwasy see a lot of parts that were made with a CNC at compitions but never have time too ask

Chief Delphi has mounted CIM/Dewalts by the using a clamp on the front collar of the Dewalt housing (where the auxilary handle for the drill is supposed to attach). We used to buy a 2 piece clamp collar from McMaster and weld one piece to the robot and clamp with the other. Now we use two pieces of 1.5"X.75" rectangular aluminum tube (1/8" wall). We clamp the two pieces together and make our own clamp collar using a hole saw and a drill press. It works great.

The first year, I was nervous about that being the only mounting for the relatively heavy CIM motor hanging out in space, but after 3 years of no problems, I don't even think about it. It just works.

MasterCAM is pretty much THE standard in CAM. It is a little tricky to use though (I still haven't figured it out). If you want download a trial of RAMs3D and see if that works. The trial is fully functional until it expires. I find it pretty easy to use.

I've never used MasterCAM for comparison's sake, but I have used GibbsCAM, and it's extremely easy to learn to use. So easy that after about an hour playing with it I could have made parts on my own without requiring any help.
