"Nick go to Clarkson"

Going down to Nationals I told my team I was going to WPI (190) or Clarkson (229). They had fun with this the whole time. First it was the plane trip. Getting on one of the college mentors Timmy who you all might know from the Pneumatics box decided to talk to the Pilot. Well when he made his announcements ne started by saying in a deep voice, "Nick, Nic, go to Clarkson. Nick go to Clarkson, TImmy doesn't want you yo go to WPI." The 25 team member including myself thought it weas the funniest thing, everyone else was very confused. I don't know if anyone heard the announcers say this at nations but a few times when we would compete they would say Nick go to Clarkson. Well this may seem mean but it was done in good fun and it was tasteful.

Now after all of that I did decide to go Clarkson. I will miss team 190 much but it will be fun competing against my old team.

Go see BattleCryIII@WPI even if your team is not competing, with 36 teams its going to be bigger than some of the regionals, and all of the teams are A+, some of the best matches ever are going to played, so come down and so your support. www.wpi.edu/+battlecry

Old Grad

Hi Guys,

I can't help you with any info on teams in the Potsdam area, as I haven't been there in a LONG time. But, I did want to let you know that there is at least one old Clarkson grad involved in FIRST watching over your shoulders.

Enjoy your time in the Northland!

CHAOS member attending Clarkson

Matt Derov, a senior member of 131 C.H.A.O.S. is also attending Clarkson. It seems like southern New Hampshire is owning this post.

Can you answer some questions on the team set up? Like how many college students are there/ vs high school students? are there a lot of professors involved? Where is the building done?

Just curious and already excited to go to school

The answer is 42

Pam,

Team 177 has alumni at Clarkson and I know they have an active team...

The best place to go is "Buzz U" at http://www.buzzu.org/

However, this link appears to be broken. Perhaps someone at Buzz can post the correct link.

Mike

Hmm.. Lets see now.. The past year the team had about 60-70 listed members. The split was about 50-50 between the High Schools and Clarkson. Not all the Clarkson members were active as well as some of the HS students. So as i recall the numbers were aound 40-50 with the HS in the majority.

We only have one proffessor involved and that is as an advisor, with very little involvement in design. However we do have two very nice shop teachers from the highschools that donate alot of time to FIRST.

As for constuction 99% of it is done at the highschools. Basically no work is done at clarkson, since the HSers can't work in that shop. It can get a little interesting trying to balance work bettween the two HS's but we do manage it with out too much hassle.

Mike: You refering to Eric O?

Bruce: The fact that we used to be CCT is still quite apparent as the logo can be found in many places. Though most people don't know what it means.

Contact Me...

Hey Guys,
I probably should have replied sooner, but I haven't been on the Forums much this summer (I live at work some days)...

We're begining to plan things for next year, and in particular are looking to bring in as many FIRST "veterans" as possible, especially freshman.

As Chris said above, there will be someone at the Activities Fair (Everyone should goto that, seriously, just see what we have on campus and check out everything) so you can stop by our booth and leave your name, this will get you on our mailing list. We communicate primarily through email, and as meetings start happening you'll start getting invites.

Our team will probably start work in late sept/early oct. Though this year we are planning on changing the way things are run. Because of this, we'll try to begin integrating new members as soon as possible so that their ideas can be heard.

If you have any questions about the team, or about Clarkson itself you can IM me at JNoon2, or you can email me at JNoon2@hotmail.com ...

I'll be on campus after 21st of August, and will be helping out with Freshman Orientation, so feel free to drop me an IM, or come stop by my dorm and say hello (Moore 323).

Hope Everyone had a good summer, see you in 2 weeks...

JVN
