Re: globe motor
Your best bet at this stage may be to trade with a neighboring team. Maybe you are not using your CIM or window motors and they will trade you for them.
Fast and cheap. |

Re: globe motor
It has been years since we got the Globe folks onboard. The motor is definitely an automotive application. If memory servers they are used on many Ford and GM in an electric shift application for a 4WD-2WD transfer case. I believe they are still in production (trucks get retooled much less frequently that cars). Over the years, I have tried several times to get the exact years, makes and models. I think the data was posted on here several years ago, but I couldn't find it and even it I did, I suppose it would be out of date.
BUT... ...even with the data you'd be in a fix because the motor is not a "serviceable" item, meaning the entire shifter mechanism has to be purchased. This gets expensive very fast (I think it was something like $200 or so?). Bottom line: The only real option is to trade other teams for them. Sorry. Joe J. |

Re: globe motor
The only concern you might have is on the number of motors allowed. I think you are only allowed the motors in the kit, plus two small CIM motors (FR801-001) and unlimited HITEC servos. I am not 100% sure on that rule however, someone want to clarify?

Re: globe motor Warning
We opened the gear case on our Globe motor and found it completely dry. No grease, no nothing.

Re: globe motor
That's interesting. As I remember, we opened several globe motors a few years ago, and they were all nicely greased. As they are usually only used very intermittently on a four wheel drive shifter, for that application, dry might be OK.
We have greased ours for this years robot. Bill |
