Re: I cant get my program into a hex file

Well I could tell you to read the manual, but it is just as easy to tell you that when you hit the "Build All" icon in MPLAB, it creates the hex file automatically in the folder in which you're working (assuming it compiled and linked without error). In IFI Loader, navigate to the directory in which you were just working and select the hex file named after your project. If there are two hex files there, the one labeled "default" is the original, unmodified one.

I don't know what Serge was talking about... I am also on the Programming Team for Team #1843.
We have made a code in easyC and we cannot get it compiled to a .hex file. Is this easier than I though? Am I missing something? Or do we need to be using MPLab and easyC together or what?

Re: I cant get my program into a hex file

I dont use easyc myself but there is likely a button that 'compiles' or 'builds' and that sould do what you want, other than that READ THE MANUAL thats why they spend their time writing it.

Re: I cant get my program into a hex file

Yeah I have hit the compile button... I doesn't spit out a .hex file. It's a file that's specific to easyC. Also I have read the manual and there is no place in it that states how to export to a .hex file.

Re: I cant get my program into a hex file

Make sure the path of your entire project is not too long. I usually just put it under the root directory (C: or w/e drive you use). At the beginning of the season I stuck it in my docs and it wouldnt spit out any hex files either...took a question to a senior programmer before i got it.

Re: I cant get my program into a hex file

I'm not sure if EasyC actually saves the .hex file... but if you click on "Build & Download" or F7 it will actually download the .hex file to the robot for you!

Update: Looks like it saves the .hex file in C:\Program Files\Intelitek\easyC or FRC\FRC\*.hex (just click F7 and than either choose to download right away or later by clicking "Build & Download," and than "Download Window")
