"Ow that's hot!" Me after we bent some steel using a blowtorch.

"Why is the trash can on fire?" Said by a member a little to calmly.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient being"

"Shut up cameron and start tapping"

The above conversation was between a team leader and a relatively new member of the team.

and...

Sunny - "Why won't the intake mechanism work?"
Dok (Build Team) - "Not my fault"
Tanner(Programming) - "Not my fault"
Stephen(wiring) - "Don't look at me, I run wire"

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season

Out coach had given our School Newspaper an interview and they just slaughtered everything he said. They pulled this epic FAIL out of a hat:

"YOU RIP WHAT YOU PUT ANYWHERE!"

Completely out of the blue. We read the article, but didn't notice it at first due to it being the very last sentence. Eventually someone read the whole thing diligently, and brought it to our attention. We had a good laugh afterward, and still occasionally use it as a pun...

Our school has done the same thing, although not nearly as horribly. Their mistakes were limited to the grade of one of our students, the days we meet, and they implied that the Vex competition was called Overdrive.

There are a couple of pictures in our yearbook this year of members that graduated last year.

Our yearbook has only last years member list on it and the championship picture...

from our offseason event back in October that very few people went to and even fewer are in.

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season

A favorite one from this year.

"Soooo if I can make these cookies in the microwave in six minuets, or thirty in an oven, how long will it take to cook by heat gun?"

Honestly I never found out, I ended up eating them all before they were fully cooked. They were still delicious, yum.

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season

Only die-hard programmers will get this one. At the lab, I programmed a button on our router to turn on all of the lab computers when one presses it. It does this by sending Wol (Wake-on-LAN) packets to the computers. I put the following label on the button:

Code:
Wall
o
L
(lol)
That's WALL - short for "WoL all."

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season

My best friend hears ALL about FIRST...including all the inside jokes [non-functional duct-tape and all]...he wants SO bad to be on an FRC team but lives on the other side of the country, way out in the hills....anyways. I was talking with him about FIRST, and how awesome the sense of community is, and he says, 'Like one big geeky duct-tape covered family!'
...there should be a Facebook group for FIRST Robotics Wanna-be's.
