The good guys at Team 45

I have had the outstanding opportunity to work with Mark Coors and other engineers from Delphi Automotive at our high school this week. These guys are the greatest. My hats off to them and everyone on Team 45.

Ken Loyd

Ps. Thank you for letting me "rip off" your latest drive and transmission system from your web site.

Not the newest design

Ken,

I haven't heard back from Mark Koors on how the trip to Arizona went, but he was surely looking forward to it when he left. It's good that things worked out well. From what I hear, it's a win-win situation not only for the Gila Monsters, but also Delphi.

Hopefully, Mark can explain what went on when he gets back.

As for the transmission... the one that is posted on the website is our design from 2001. We will be posting the brand new design of our transmissions from 2002, which were similar in theory to other teams shifting designs (teams 60, 201, 302). This will take a while before the prints are cleaned up in a presentable way for others to use them.

As I type this... I wonder if team 64 taught Mark and the rest of the Delphi guys the Gila Monster cheer? I sure hope so!

Andy B.

Cool....

Thanks for the compliments Ken....

Just wondering, but what were Mark and the other engineers doing out West? (just curious)

I hope Mark and the rest of the engineers did as great of a job as they do back here at home, cuz it truly an experience (and quite fun at the same time) to work with them...

We had a real successful trip to Phoenix. As a sponsor for the TechnoKats I knew that the Gila Monsters would be in a position to help Delphi with our hot weather testing. Normally we would have sent 8 engineers to Phoenix to test our occupant detection system, but with the help of the Gila Monsters, we only had to send 4 engineers. As a result, a portion of the money we saved was used to reward the Gila Monsters for their effort. In addition they were able to work along side some engineers in a real world application. The Gila Monsters were selected because they could give us 90+ degrees with <25% R.H. In the future I'll be looking for hot & humid, and very cold.
