Google Mars

First came Google Earth. Next came Google Moon. And now they have Google Mars. At least now we can finally see Lavery's 'other car' for ourselves.

http://www.google.com/mars/

What's next? Google Solar System? Google Universe? I always knew they wanted to take over the world universe! I just wish they would invent Google Dryer, that would automatically enable you to find all those lost socks, or Google TV Remote, which would automatically find itself while giving you all your latest Gmail messages...

Obviously in preparation for the voluminous data about to be received from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which NASA put into orbit this past Friday.

Re: Google Mars

Google, NASA and ASU have been working on this for a few months. Additional data sets, including the global photographic coverage that will be provided by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter once the cameras are calibrated and fully operational, will be added over time.

Re: Google Mars

i tried getting a close up view, it didn't work too well, i couldn't really see the rover itself. BTW is it true the rover is the size of a golf cart, how do you power something that big for so long?

Solar power. There are no cloudy days in the terms we see (rain clouds) on mars. Maybe a dust storm or two, but I'm not sure. Is it even windy on Mars, or is it like the moon where there is no wind?

Yeah.. and about the Google Mars, is it my imagination, or is the image on the zoom out completely command just a tiled image of one picture?

And the planet is rectangular as well.

Is google mars supposed to be at BETA?
