u people finally got the point y i started this!
that kind of... poopy... the kid thongs... ok, its wrong enough for them to have it... but y does it have things written on it? what 7-10 year old (should be) going 'round showing off what it says on their undergarments?? i mean, really... then we sit here and wonder where all these pedophilic things / thoughts start off at... samething w/ the shirts - i thought we were trying to STOP racism - okok, when ur j/king around w/ ur friends, it might be cool, everyones'k w/ it, but when people start boycotting stores, should it be stopped? |

I'm half Asian, and as far as the "racist" shirts go they don't really bother me. I would even go so far as to say I find them slightly amusing. But I'm sure a lot of people would NOT feel the same way I do.
It's pretty obvious A&F is doing all this for attention. Like they say, "There's no such thing as bad publicity." I don't shop there solely because of the prices (and now, the children's thong thing). I wouldn't be like, "Ugh, I won't shop here because all the stupid preps shop here." I could care less about the store's reputation. I'm not worried about my clothing, as long as it looks decent, fits me, and is cheap. I feel obliged to add that Bealls Outlet and TJ Maxx are stores of the gods. |

What pisses me off is that people sit in Congress and say that video games, TV, and movies cause over sexualtiy, and here we have A&F selling thongs to 7 year olds. Come on!

something rather interesting...
my school has a 'quarterly' school newspaper. we just got the final one of the school year today. as iwas reading it, i noticed one of the articles in the viewpoints section was pretty much this exact thread . seems that we're not the only ones with a dislike for a&f. it actually even mentioned something about the children's thongs, although it said it was for ages 10 - 14, but seeeing what a&f has done, i'm not surprised if they have 7 - 10 thongs also. |

Hey everyone! This is my first post, so I'm gonna try to make it good:
*As for the racist shirts, the first time I saw one of them was today, and frankly, even though I am not even partly Asian, I can see why these shirts could be found racist (PS: Isn't buddhism from India? And, if so, why are there Chinese/Japanese characters on the Buddha Abercrombie shirt?). *As for the thongs for little girls, I think that its totally disgusting. Our perverted society has turned even little girls into sexual objects, and I think whoever came up with the idea of thongs for 10-14 year olds should be sued. After all, if we can sue McDonald's if our coffee is too hot, why can't we sue Abercrombie for encouraging pedophilia? *As for wearing Abercrombie in general, I'm not completely opposed to it. I personally don't own any of their clothes because I think they're way to expensive, but its nearly impossible to buy shirts anywhere without company logos plastered onto them, so to me it doesn't matter if its Abercrombie, Old Navy, or whatever. |

Copied Post
Now i will post the reply where I meant it to go:
Ian... I know Buddhism moved to China and Japan, but if Abercrombie is going to make a racist shirt, they might as well make a reference to the country where it started, not where it migrated. I'll bet if the Buddha saw that they were using East Asian script on his shirt, he'd be turning over in his grave, that is, if he wasn't burned on a funeral pyre... |

*Yeah, me too, but after 3 years of robotics, I finally made it from post-nationals return to school day until the last day of school (June 7th) without ever wearing the same robotics shirt twice! Eventhough I did this everyday, I still had the same people who asked me more than once what my shirts meant. *I won't even get into the thong issue. In my mind the entire thing is just wrong. I agree that congress should pay attention to this. *Last, I would never buy A&F, or anything similar to it, because their sizes range from a 0-4. Yeah right! How realistic is that? People think video games and television teaches children bad things. What about a child seeing a place offer clothes only to people who weigh less than 100lbs? Is that really healthy? |
