Re: 2006 Best Robot Match Ever?

I really enjoyed the newton semi-finals 2 matches. The first one was amazing, we lost in autonomous mode and ended up winning. semifinal 2-2 was a tough match, we won auto and it was a close loss at 108-115. the third one wasnt too special but it was still a great match. I also liked Semi-Final 2-2 on Einstien. 25,968, and 195 were a down a match, they were behind untill the very last second when both 25 and 968 show up and pound the goal with balls. Amazing to watch.

No doubt in my mind that for this, it had to be the final match of the championships! I was on the edge of my seat, I swore there would be a match 3, and then Red pulled away with it by a mere 4 points!

Others in my mind are basically all championship ones that now stick clearly in my mind. This reminds me of Newton Alliance's come-from-behind win over Galileo in the Semifinals at Atlanta! Especially that 2nd match to tie it up, where they didn't even try to score in autonomous, and then during their offensive period came back with 72 points worth of 3 point shots! It was incredible!

Re: 2006 Best Robot Match Ever?

Galileo match 101... We were up against three robots, and we only had two... we won 35 to 14. 306 blocked their Auto and pushed our budies up the ramp at the end... I was happy with it

Re: 2006 Best Robot Match Ever?

While I wouldnt normaly talk about my own match but I think 229's anti beatty automode was pretty sweet. We were headed directly for the poofs to throw them off and suddenly our robot turns and stops beatty dead in thier tracks. Sorry beatty but it was pretty awesome.

Re: 2006 Best Robot Match Ever?

At Monty Madness I got flipped over onto the ramp. I told (well, yelled) the driver of 1660 to give us a nudge and see if we could flip back over. The driver executed the move perfectly and saved us from certain annihilation. Once again, the mystifying CG of our bot generated some "oooo's" in the stands. However, we got flipped over again in the late seconds of the match and lost by a mere 5 pts. We really thought we were going to win that one.

Re: 2006 Best Robot Match Ever?

My favorite match this year was at the Detroit Regional when our partners were 469, and 217 along with us 47 and we score 113 points the highest for that regional and it was a very exciting match all the way to the end, especially when we raced across the field with 7 seconds laeft and got on to the ramp as the buzzer went off for the 10 pt bonus we only had 2 robots on at the end, the score would have been higher if all of us got on but it was the best match for me this year.

Go download them off of SOAP and watch them, they're absolutely crazy.

The newton semifinals had the only match where both alliances scored over 100 pts (sf 2-2 108-115). The 987/1503/1718(?) alliance won the first match, but the 25/968/195 alliance came back in one of the best matches of the year. The 3rd match was hard fought: 25 pinned 987 up on the ramp, and then defense was played until the last period, in which the first balls outside of the autonomous period were scored. Truly an amazing match.

Also, there were many great plays in the final matches of the Newton division.
In f-2, after losing autonomous, the 25/968/195 alliance was able to come back with a final score of 108-49. While 122 was trying to defend 968 from scoring up on the ramp, they both ended up flipping over, however, 25 was able to upright 968, which allowed them to continue to score. Also, 968 and 195 executed the "A-Bomb" during this match. Somehow 176 fell over , and as 111 was scoring, 25 was able to manuever areound both teams and get onto the ramp with 968 in the last two seconds.

I should probably go and download the Archimedes final matches too.
EDIT: Just finished watching the Archimedes finals, that first match was pretty close.
