Vex Tank Tread Screw Problems

We've been trying to make the Vex tank treads work, and we've run into a problems. The one-inch screws seem to be too short to extend all the way through the mounting holes on the bogey wheels and still go through a metal plate and a nut, even though this is what the instructions show to do. Has anyone else had this problem, or do we have defective kits, or are we just missing something obvious?

These bogey wheels have a counter-bore on one side, they are not symetric. It is likely you have just installed them backwards. Try reversing them, and see if the screws will work now.

Re: Vex Tank Tread Screw Problems

Our 4-wheel bogey wheels do not have counter-bores. The two-wheeled assemblies do, but even with those, the screws do not work. We have two tread kits, and the wheels are the same in both.

Re: Vex Tank Tread Screw Problems

I'm fairly positive you're installing them backwards.
I just opened a brand-new tank-tread kit, and double-checked that everything works, and that the screw-lengths are correct.

See attached pictures for correct mounting configurations.

Re: Vex Tank Tread Screw Problems

We got it figured out. The kit was missing the screws and no one actually checked to see if the ones that we had were an inch long.
