[WRRF]: 6/28 CalGames Planning Meeting #1 notes
The following are the notes taken by Ceal Craig from planning meeting #1 at Pioneer High School on 6/28.
************************************************** *** Thanks to the 19 (yeah!!) teams who came to the 6/24 2006 CalGame Kickoff meeting. Teams 100, 114, 115, 192, 254, 256, 668, 751, 766, 840, 841, 846, 971, 972, 1072, 1120, 1280, 1351, 1458 had representatives. Below are the notes. Next mtg is July 8, 1-3PM mtg location is TBD! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- June 24, 2006 CalGames 2006 Kickoff Meeting Notes Place: Pioneer High School Pioneer HS was selected primarily for these two reasons: (1) no need to cover pit area ("Mini-gym") that is able to handle 30 teams and only need to cover field area in large gym; and (2) flat, easy access, lots of parking, all areas close at hand. Both schools, Woodside and Pioneer, had similar strengths: solid team support, administrative support, had done Cal Games before, a desire to host. The Planning Committee and all WRRF teams deeply appreciate Woodside High School's efforts in making a bid and their support on this decision. When: October 27-28, 2006 Thursday & Friday: SET UP Field, Pits, Get ready! Friday night: Bring robot and setup pit area, some inspection & registration, maybe side events & social Saturday: Remaining inspection & Registration; Qualifying matches (possible one match as practice); Tournament; Closing Events & Awards Saturday night: CLEAN UP! Registration: $500 with money sent by 9/1 (postmark date) PLUS $100 Support Deposit. Registration details will be sent out shortly. Current limit: 30 teams Game: Aim High (Modified) ***FIRST Rules, weight, dimensions, all rules. Exceptions: (1) Can use 2005 Controller with 2006 level firmware (2) No blackout periods of work. Summer activity is OK! (3) Field size MIGHT be 2004 size depending on field availability (will notify by August). (4) Likely will be manual "clicker" counting of balls in goals. ***Ideas/questions to be considered: (a) Net or something else, instead of metal chains for Center Goal (b) Alliance selection (c) Enforce ball shooter speed and ramming speed penalties ***Ideas for Consideration: o AV/Camera ? Single screen? Any knowledge of ongoing qualifying status in the pit area, etc. o Food - fund raiser possibility (admittedly, not big one)? Teams can volunteer? Or arrange something? Or? o Practice area for targeting, similar to what was available at Davis o Friday night used for side-events & social? ***Volunteer Needs o Planning Committee (**next meeting will be July 8, 1-3 PM, Location TBD) o Inspectors (Alan Federman is Lead Inspector) o Queuing o Registration (Phyllis Schmit & Andy Danver) o Field Reset Team (Dave Sheridan) o Referees (Andy Lam, Head Ref) o Marketing & Press Announcements (Laura Rhodes) o Pre-Event Committee (Trucks, signs, etc.) o Field Set-up (~ 40-50 able bodies) o Pit Set-up (~ 20-30 able bodies) o Field Take-Down (~ 50-60 able bodies) o Pit Take-down (~ 20-30 able bodies) o Side Events o Awards o More to come. ***Side-Event IDEAS (not committed yet!)
