2006-2007 Rookies

Hey Rookies like me, I am just wondering how you like robotics so far. Does your school have any vex program and if it does do you like vex. I enjoy Robotics so far espically the first compition I went to which was a FVC at the Ontario science Centre. Our Team went to the Semi- Finals and we lost to a really good Robot who could pick up 6 balls at a time, team 1114 Simbotics!!!!

Re: 2006-2007 Rookies

Hey, welcome to the FIRST community, and the Chief Delphi community.

This is my second year participating in a FIRST team. Last year, I had a ton of fun. I think you'll love participating this year. After a few days, you'll get absorbed right into your team and it'll be very fun.

Hope you have a wonderful time this year!

Re: 2006-2007 Rookies

We heard that the Simbotics VEX bot was amazing...anyone got a picture? We just registered a new rookie team from Owings Mills High School in Baltimore county (team 3616) and will be attending the tournament at the University of Delaware in January....hope to see some of you there!

PS - I had no prior knowledge of the Game Hint prank!

Re: 2006-2007 Rookies

Hey 07 rookies:

I remember my rookie year. Shortly after kickoff, I really had no clue what to expect of the FRC. When I attended my first Philly Regional, I was hooked....FRC will be a part of my life long after I graduate, I'll make sure I'm mentoring 321 for years to come.

The FRC also has drastically changed my college major intrests and career choices. I came into high school wanting to do something with computer programming, now I'm applying to Drexel as a MechE major. FRC has changed my life for the better - its also incredibly fun. I get free, 100% hands-on experience in machining, CAD design in expensive programs, and doing what I love to do....BEFORE I even get into college. I probably would of never got this much experience in the field before I graduated...but thanks to FRC, I'm already ahead of the pack. Take advantage of EVERYTHING given to you - Autodesk is a thousand dollar program - given to you for free! Learn it inside and out! Take advantage of that oppurtunity. Even the electronics, etc in the KOP costs over $10,000 - use everything! If you don't know what it is, learn about it and use it.
