I believe that since this is a frame from a video, we won't find anything by manipulating the image in any way...

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

First off, lets only look at what they give us, no assuming and no infering....
So, now som things to consider:

1. The "diamond plate" shape ins't a circle, it is a rounded object with flats
It Could possible be a circle, but we do not see the whole perimeter of the object.

2. It is a diamonplate PATTERN, it isn't an actual picture of diamondplate.

3. The colors, blue may or may not have any significance, it is part of FIRST's logo and it is part of EVERY game. The "diamond plate" is a flat finish....and actual diamond plate has some luster to it. The 5 is black. I don't have anything to go with it, but it is just black......

4. The meaning of the 5. FIRST has done many things in past years. Go back and look what it could connect to..... 5 points for a object, 5x multiplier, 5 ways to score, 5 players?, 5 possible main strategies, 5 places to score, 5 new things in the kit, 5 pounds more for your robot weight, 5 weeks to finish building your robot? It could mean anything, or it could mean nothing.

5. 5 players, think about it doesn't FIRST want everything to be fair? So if there was 5 players how would they make the game fair? Half way through have the player switch teams? maybe maybe not. But remember in '06 the person who won autonomous almost always won the match. So if the extra bot if on one side for autonomous the other team would have a lesser chance of doing good. unless of course the drastically change the game.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Aha! the image is in layers. here is what I got!

TUBES!! The game is going to be a seris of tubes!

My point: there is no way anyone is going to figure out this clue, all we got is a black 5, a diamond plate circle, and some crazy blue background. Its not much to go on. I dont mean stop trying, but some of these sugesstions are getting ridiculous. Water? there is no way it would be allowed on the field. there is too many room for things to go wrong with water near elecrical equipment.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

For what it's worth, I'm throwing out a guess.
I like the King of the Hill idea, possibly played with five bots on a pentagon-shaped field manipulating truncated icosahedrons (Bucky ball - It has 32 faces, of which 20 are regular hexagons and 12 are regular pentagons). There are five steps leaging up to a round platform (the "hill")

Probably going overkill on the "5", but food for thought.....

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

I thought game hints were supposed to be vauge/confusing sentences, has FIRST decided to change from text to graphic?

Of course when you think about it this hint is infinitley easier for them to relate to the game, it could literaly be anything.

This also makes it virtually impossible to guess anything. Unless they give us something more specific I think we should all sit back and save our brains for when we'll need them most; build season.

The five of diamonds is widely believed to be the fifth card of Wild Bill Hickock's "Dead Man's Hand" of Aces and Eights.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

I think it Has some thing to do with Water. lol .(This means lexan all over the bot). apartfrom this i Think the robot als have to climb the platform.

But i dont think this clue is allright the one they gave it on the FIRST Website. No none knows what # 5 means it can means any thing. Maybe 5 on 5 robot.

Well, all i wish the game should be easy enough to drive in the game feild like it was last year.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

perhaps the diamond plate represents part of the field and the 5 is the different places that it occurs, center and corners are most probable

Could this clue possibly hint to five robots on the blue alliance? Just a theory

5 vs how many though?

We better not be making a return of X vs 0 like in 2001.

Worst game to understand and play ever.

well its possible it could be a 5 0n 1 but that seems a little unreasonable to me. Maybe they added two teams and its a 5 on 3? Like I said before its a theory.
There is however one problem the grief caused by the slant of a game setup towards one alliance. I don't think that the officials would want to deal with it.

There has also been a recently recorded trend of the game pieces where they follow the pattern of the first logo: triangle=tetra, ball=circle, square= ?

there are a few things we do know. one the playing field is going to be about the same size due to venue. Chances are the floor is going to be carpeted aside from ramps and such thr floor will also probably be relatively flat. Raising the playing field would be extremely hard based on the materials costs.

Also does anyone know if the fish picture was a real clue or not if so I have some additonal theories about that.

That has been said a thousand times before you.

And I don't think that's true. The FIRST logo goes Triange, Circle Square.

2000 - Circle
2001 - Circle
2002 - Circle
2003 - Square!
2004 - Circle
2005 - Triangle!
2006 - Circle

Frankly I don't see much of a trend here. If it does follow a trend, the trend would be part of the FIRST logo every other year in succession following the Triangle Circle Square (bolded), and in between those years it would involve circles.

So... if it did follow that trend, the next game peice would be circular, which has already been suggested by many many people. I think the most likely theory to be true would be the game peice being innertubes or hoops.

Yeah, that's just what I think.

Re: 2007 Official FRC Game Hint / Email Blast

Hmm...130 lbs. @ 15 fps + inner tubes = ? Seems like massive carnage of game pieces and not a logical candidate for speculation, right? Can anyone think of a similar/analagous more durable game piece to serve the same function in the ever popular "water themed" fantasy?
