Re: iPhone

Heck, the iPhone is even cheaper! Look: http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM...B41E0D305.html Yes, the iPhone does cost $499-$599, but has a service plan that's over $20 cheaper than other smartphones (this is considering that all plans have the same minutes and unlimited data). Cell phone companies love to trick people by offering free or nearly free phones, and charging them tons of money on service plans. People don't say the Motorola Q is a $2,420 phone. they say it's a $150 phone, which obviously isn't true. when people talk about how expensive the iPhone is, they don't dare compare it to other phones, they just add up all the costs and talk about how you could get that money and invest it. The same would go for any other smartphone. And if you're still complaining about how hard the keyboard is to use, I just typed all this (except for the link) on my iPhone. No Problem. |

Re: iPhone
1) Using the iPhone with a data plan is worthless because it only has EDGE.
2) The iPhone doesn't have a keyboard. 3) I like that the browser shows me YouTube as it really is, and not just parts of it. Then again, see 1. 3) No memory card slot 4) No A2DP 5) No voicedialing The iPhone data plan is the same $20 as the unlimited data plan I have with ATT right now, so that won't cost me any extra. $650 for a Nokia N95 right now with no commitment, versus $600 (can't buy more memory later) for the iPhone with a two year commitment. The HTC S621 is $390 and the Nokia E62 is $300 - both unlocked. I have seen the iPhone for sale places other than Apple/ATT - for $800. Now then, which is cheaper? Ktkxbye. I'll be happy when the Kaiser arrives, or the Nokia N95 shows up over here, or I get lazy and just import. (Or I graduate and get a real job so I can afford a mobile solution) Not familar with the Kaiser? Let me share with you! WM 6, 128 system ram, wifi, full bluetooth, triband HSDPA and HSUPA, GPS, 3 megapixel camera, sweet flip up screen. The iPhone has some serious shortcomings that I hope they rectify in future iterations. Wetzel Last edited by Wetzel : 29-07-2007 at 23:45. |

And i can't find a 16 GB SD card that is affordable. they cost like 300 bucks. in response to 3, there are over 10,000 youtube videos on the iphone. as i just said like 2 posts ago, the iphone HAS a keyboard, and works BETTER than physical (and cheezy) cell phone keyboards. Before you consider buying this "Kaiser", make sure that it has good battery life–3G is very battery inefficient. and lastly, you did NOT consider the phone plan in the price. I'm comparing the bestselling smartphones with equal plans. Go to my other post and see that link. |

I <3 research.

That said, EDGE is terribly slow. With a theoretical maximum of 473.6 kbit/s for EDGE there is no way it can get close to touching my cable modem. I just ran a speed test and got 6065Kbit/s down and 672 Kbit/s up. HSDPA provides down-link speeds of up to 14.4 Mbit/s theoretically. How is EDGE anywhere near that? And as far as that other website goes, their conclusions are junk. The second sentence shows their obvious bias before we get to any data. They say the TyTn costs $860 vs the iPhone $600, but the TyTn (branded as the Cingular 8525) is $299 with contract, or $599 without direct from ATT. The same goes for the rest of the prices they list, with the ones I checked being at the least $130 more than they are available for. As for plans, the iPhone plans are exactly the same as the regular plans according to ATT, with the exception of the unlimited data plan for the iPhone listed as $20 vs the $19.99 for the other smart phones. Oh, and you have a choice to get the data plan or not with non iPhones. Apple fanboys spread just as much FUD as MS fanboys. Wetzel |

Re: iPhone
It was a lot of iPhone bashing, and I dont want to anger people. Anyways, my plan is i think 30 at most per month with a Palm Treo 700W. I have a wifi card i can just put in, as well as the expansion slot can allow me to hold more memory. Just think that Treo > iPhone by a long shot.
