Pneumatics Help

Thank you for all the help with my last thread about tracks.

I am now having problems finding a hydraulic the size that I need. I will probably need one with a 30 inch rod at least. Help finding a sight or source would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

30 meter rod? or do you mean centimeter or milimeter?

no I mean length. I need the hydraulic rod to be 30 inches long and I can't find one anywhere.

Take a second...Calm down...Breath....ok much better.

First off there is a termonology problem here. Hydraulics (using oil) are not legal, while pneumatics (using compressed air) are legal. While the components look the same they are different. Next length of the stroke (the amount you want to move) has nothing to do with the force required to do so. So just figure out the length and you can order the one you need. Bimba gives each team 3 free cylinders and normally one in the kit, they still haven't shipped the pneumatics kit this year so wait a bit and soon you will know what is availalbe.

Right, thats what I mean. I just need a pneumatic that can extend to 60 inches. I forgot that the kit wasnt shipped yet. Thanks for clearing that up.

Regardless of which measurement is correct, you're out of luck--Bimba's free (and thus legal) cylinders only go up to 24". And even then, you're going to use a lot of air in one use of that cylinder. Have you examined other options for your application?

oh really? well i suppose there is ways to combine pneumatics and use other motors for extensions...but thank you I was unaware of that rule.

using very simple levers you can get more out of a piston, just less force. our team is using a small piston for our claw type mechanism, and we found that a few points of rotation can work wonders

well first of all i think that you should use a pnuematic system but im not entirely sure of what exactly your using it for
