Electronic Story Boards
We have lots of questions on the electronic story boards. (The team member that knew how to do all this had the nerve to graduate and go to college, so we have all new people on the team this year....)
How do we make the electronic story boards? What web site are we to load them to? I am assuming that it is the teams' main website that should have a link to animation? Is there a place where we could see examples of these story boards? I apologize if there is a site with all this information on it already. I have tried looking and haven't found one yet. Thanks, Carrie |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
Hi Carrie,
Here are the rules for the Autodesk Visualization Design Competition: http://firstbase.autodesk.com/?nd=fi..._visualization You'll need to upload your animation to Autodesk's web site, but post the storyboard on your own. A Storyboard is just a series of simple sketches showing all the scenes & events of your video. Most of us will sketch out a storyboard on paper, then scan it into the computer. You should create the storyboard first, then use it as a guide to make your animation. That's what "real" TV & film directors do. Here are a few storyboard examples I found on the Net: http://www.mercedes.wa.edu.au/Media/howto.html http://www.polykarbon.com/gallery/storyboards.htm http://www.rollins.edu/it/video/storyboard2.jpg |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the links for story boards.
I had seen the rules for the Autodesk Visualization Design Competition, although it is a little confusing to me also -- it says: "click on the Autodesk Design Competition area. An adult member of the team is required to submit the entry for the team. In order to submit the entry, the adult member must be registered on the Autodesk FIRSTbase site. Click on “Submit Entry” to fill out the entry form. I can't find a "submit entry" button anywhere. I am registered as a mentor, but obviously I need the mentoring ![]() thanks, Carrie |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
do we HAVE to follow these standards (or any other standard)? I'm just drawing my storyboard, its like the examples, but some details my storyboard lacks, nothing really important i think...
thanks for advance =) Last edited by 3dfernando : 23-01-2007 at 20:09. |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
Carrie: I can't find the "Submit Entry" link on FIRSTbase either. I assume Autodesk will add this soon.
Fernando: I don't think Autodesk cares how pretty your storyboard looks, but note the 3rd point below, under their judging criteria: Concept (Maximum: 35 points) |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
Well, it says "follows your storyboard", then i think its fine if the storyboard don't look like the standards if the animation follows it well =]

Re: Electronic Story Boards
I received this from Autodesk, Inc and they said I could post it here:
We have not posted the entry form yet. I will send you an email when it is posted. You do not need to fill out the entry form ahead of time like last year. You will complete this web based form once you are ready to submit your animation. Are you ready to submit your animation entry? The form will be web based and we will not be using Streamline this year. Hope this helps someone else. Carrie |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
I heard that there is an earlier deadline for the story board that is different from the deadline of the animation... Is this true? And if it is, when is it due?
Thanks, Daniel |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
Where did you hear that? You should read the rules (see link above)
Storyboards are due the same date as the animations - Feb. 16. |

Re: Electronic Story Boards
My bad. That should be rendered as "everybody will do their storyboards after they finish their animation."

Re: Electronic Story Boards
since storyboards are concept, it doesnt fit 100% with the final animation... so they would catch those ones who didn't plan before animating...
