Team 1103 has applied for a Hamburger Helper's My Hometown Helper grant. We are asking for $5,000 to start FLL team in all nine middle schools in Walworth County, WI.

First Robotics Team 1103 from Delavan-Darien High School in Delavan currently sponsors First Robotics Lego League Teams at two middle schools in Walworth County: Elkhorn and Delavan. We would like to sponsor ALL the school districts in the county: Fontana, Lake Geneva, Williams Bay, Sharon, Genoa City,Whitewater, and East Troy.

FLL or First Lego League introduces middle school students to robotics using Lego robots in competition. Students also complete a scientific research project that is presented to judges. Building a base of 10-14 year old students interested robotics helps FRC Team 1103 to achieve their goal of building a county-wide high school robotics team. The goal of the program is to broaden the appeal of science and technology across student interests. FIRST high school team members can be interested in a number of different disciplines including: art, writing, computer sciences or any of the trades and still contribute to the team effort. By participating on a team they can work in areas that they may not have considered before (art students get to weld and auto shop guys get to do engineering) Team 1103 has been primarily funded by local businesses with the Delavan-Darien School District acting as a sponsor. Walworth County is a rural county with a population of only about 100,000 year 'round residents. For more information about FIRST, FRC and FLL go to usfirst.org or the team website frc1103.org.

Done. Good luck with that grant - if the school system only knew what a bargain they are getting, I bet they would fund it themselves.

Any FRC teams out there willing to help them write a proposal for their school board??
