It looks great sitting still, too!

How are the Banebots arm motors holding up?

Re: pic: 1251 07 Robot

The torque of the banebots is fine, they do get a bit warm since they don't have a fan, we will be adding muffin fans. We also use a strut to support the arm.

The robot can climb any ramp under a 25 degree angle as long as the ramp has a smooth surface.

I saw it today, and I must say I am quite impressed. Primarily that you are underweight, and that your arm driver can tackle so many choices to get into position. Gives you tons of freedom though, and can practically be scored from any angle or direction.

You can see it moving in the video from the swamp scrimmage... http://www.marsbot.org/scrimmage07

Robot looks awesome. I saw the video of you guys scoring, it looks great. Definitely will be one of the good scoring bots at the regional. I am kind of having hard time believing that you guys can climb up a 25 degree ramp. I have seen the robot in person, and you guys have a clearance of 3/4" or maybe less (please correct me). The distance from the front of the robot to the center of front wheel is atleast 4.5" (am I right?), keeping in mind that your wheels are 4". Run some number on that. I don't think you can even climb up our ramp (which is about a 20 degree angle at it's highest point) without smashing into it. If you guys had the front of the robot cut in an angle, so the wheel would hit the ramp first, yes you guys would be able to climb up a ramp. Don't get me wrong guys. I love you guys and always look forward to seeing what you guys come up with. Look into it, if you guys are planning on climbing other teams' ramp. Everyone will have hard time knocking out this beast out of the competition.

Actually the distance to the center of our first wheel is about 3.188 and our clearance when the robot rocks back with the arm is about 3/4, and we have tested this bot on a ramp at 25 degrees. The ramp was made of aluminum with sand paper on and it climbed it without a problem. I'm sure we can climb your ramp Fin.

That's good to hear. We will have a spare ramp sitting in the practice field at the Florida regional. Climb up that one and let us know that you won't break our ramp. Oh yea, for traction, we are putting on those stair treads, so you won't have any problem. Can't wait to see you guys in action. =)
