Poll: Newton has what types of robots

I was just wondering how many of each types of robots we have in Newton. I want to know just how many of each types of robots we have.

1983 can score middle and low, and has strong drive train for defence. We can climb most all ramps that come our way.

Team 1444 can reach any level, and has no ramp. We can climb any ramp of any incline.

VanMan - Your poll options are incomplete... We have a ring-hanging arm in our center and a an unfolding, spacious, gently sloped ramp+platform on each side for our buddies to use.

Remember us from VCU? We are/were the purple one allied with 116 and 435 in the eliminations.

This would go under the category of a arm with 2 robot lift

I might agree if the poll didn't explicitly separate lifts from ramps already, and if lifts weren't radically different mechanisms from ramps.

I have seen a bunch of pictures of lifting robots that dumped their cargo (and themselves) over in an awful looking heap, or that have had robots slide off during the lifting process. I have also seen pics and video of many that work very well.

Regardless, stable and passive (not moving once deployed), gently-sloped ramps with a good-sized platform at the top of each (each ally gets a private one) is not the same as a a lifting bot on my scouting sheets.

The only difference between lifts and ramps in this poll, is in my opinion, one of word choice. The separate option for a ramp is for a robot with no arm, the separate option for an arm is for a robot with no ramp, and the other two options are for hybrid ramp/lift and scoring robots.

dhoinzer - I think you mean syntax, not semantics. Semantics deals with meanings. If the only difference between the two is a semantic difference, then there are different meanings; not similar meanings.

And... Fine - You and I interpreted it differently - Hopefully, VanMan can edit the poll to clear this up. If he can edit it he can easily either convey a single idea using a single word/phrase throughout, or he can describe different mechanisms by using different words/phrases. Whichever was (or is) his intent. At the moment neither you nor I knows what he actually intended to convey.

Perhaps he/we should take another crack at it by describing the way robots score (or enable the scoring of) points rather than by describing the implementations
1) Only Hang Rings
2) Hang Rings and get one robot off the floor
3) Hang Rings and get two robots off the floor
4) Only get one robot off the floor
5) Only get two robots off the floor
6) Neither hangs rings nor gets other robots off the floor (presumed to be a defensive bot able to get off the floor with an ally's help).

Blake

102 can score 3-4 tubes on the bottom or middle sections and then come back and set up to lift 2 robots (1 can be lifted if needed)
