Saw this today in my latest CAD/CAM Monthly edition of Machine Design Magazine E-mail.

Congrats to FRC Team 190 at WPI for getting some international publicity.

Re: SolidWorks-designed ‘bots win FIRST Robotics and BattleBots IQ competitions

Well not all of the BattleBots IQ winners used Solidworks or even Inventor. I designed my team's battlebot in 3D completey using AutoCAD to model it down to the threads on the bolts and the individual links on the roller chain. My team ended up taking home first prize in the 120 lb high school division at BotsIQ this year with our robot, "the Blender". (not to mention the best engineered award as well)

Granted, the model does take 10 minutes to load on the fastest computer I have access to.
