Volunteer at Smithsonian

Quote:
VOLUNTEER
at the NATIONAL AIR and SPACE MUSEUM
in CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA

Do you like Science, History, Teaching or museums in general?
Are you curious, energetic, responsible, and enthusiastic?
Do you like to learn new things and share that knowledge with others?
Then WE NEED YOU!

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is recruiting volunteers to staff its Discovery Stations. Located throughout the museums, these portable carts encourage informal learning through “hands-on” activities related to aviation, space, astronomy, and planetary geology. You can provide interactive fun for visitors of all ages!

REQUIREMENTS AND TRAINING
Discovery Station Volunteers are expected to:
-Give a minimum one-year commitment of eight hours per month
-Comply with all Smithsonian Institution policies, standards and procedures
-Be able to commit 100+ hours over the summer
-Be able to present to multi-generational audiences, including presentations to small children
-Attend teaching techniques sessions and content sessions
-Be 16 years of age or older.
If you are interested, please PM me as soon as possible. The training session begins in the first week of June.
As a volunteer, working at the Museum is a lot of fun. You not only get to know cool stuff and work on the artifacts; you get to share that knowledge with the community around you.
We are also looking for some technical people to help with the Space Shuttle and Mission Control Simulation and Mars Rovers Yard.

Thanks
Looking forward to meet some cool volunteers from FIRST
